Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees,

祸哉！那些设立不义之律例的和记录奸诈之判语的，

制定不义律例、起草不公法令的人啊，你们有祸了！

那些制定奸恶律例的，和那些记录诡诈判语的，有祸了！

祸哉！那些制定邪恶律例、记录不义判决的！

禍哉！那些設立不義之律例的和記錄奸詐之判語的，

禍哉！那些設立不義之律例的，和記錄奸詐之判詞的，

禍哉！那些設立不義之律例的，和記錄奸詐之判詞的，

制定不義律例、起草不公法令的人啊，你們有禍了！

那些制定奸惡律例的，和那些記錄詭詐判語的，有禍了！

有禍啊，那些制定奸惡之律例的，和那些忙於記錄毒害人之判語的！

禍哉！那些制定邪惡律例、記錄不義判決的！

立不義之律、錄乖戾之詞、

立法嚴酷、載之典章、虐遇其民、其有禍乎。

立不善之法度、錄不義之判語、

How terrible it will be for you who make laws that aren’t fair! How terrible for you who write laws that make life hard for others!

Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression,

What sorrow awaits the unjust judges and those who issue unfair laws.

Woe to those enacting crooked statutes and writing oppressive laws

Woe to those who enact unjust statutes And to those who constantly record harmful decisions,

“ Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, Which they have prescribed

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers that write perverseness;

Woe to those enacting crooked statutes and writing oppressive laws

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness[ which] they have prescribed;

Those who enact unjust policies are as good as dead, those who are always instituting unfair regulations,

Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write oppressive decrees;

“ Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”

“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices— mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law— justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

“ Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.“ Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.“ Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it.”

Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field till no space is left and you live alone in the land.

Then I said,“ Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel. Should you not embrace justice,you who hate good and love evil; who tear the skin from my people and the flesh from their bones;who eat my people’s flesh, strip off their skin and break their bones in pieces; who chop them up like meat for the pan, like flesh for the pot?”Then they will cry out to the Lord, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done.

“ Will not all of them taunt him with ridicule and scorn, saying,“‘ Woe to him who piles up stolen goods and makes himself wealthy by extortion! How long must this go on?’

Can a corrupt throne be allied with you— a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?The wicked band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

Jesus replied,“ And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.“ Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks,

You have observed the statutes of Omri and all the practices of Ahab’s house; you have followed their traditions. Therefore I will give you over to ruin and your people to derision; you will bear the scorn of the nations.”

Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes,

“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.

“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.

“ Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness, his upper rooms by injustice, making his own people work for nothing, not paying them for their labor.

“ Woe to him who builds his house by unjust gain, setting his nest on high to escape the clutches of ruin!

Hear this, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right;who build Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness.Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they look for the Lord’s support and say,“ Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.”

Now, Your Majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered— in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.”So King Darius put the decree in writing.

“ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

Woe to him who says to wood,‘ Come to life!’ Or to lifeless stone,‘ Wake up!’ Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver; there is no breath in it.”

The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

No, in your heart you devise injustice, and your hands mete out violence on the earth.

So the king took his signet ring from his finger and gave it to Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.“ Keep the money,” the king said to Haman,“ and do with the people as you please.”Then on the thirteenth day of the first month the royal secretaries were summoned. Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.

Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine.

Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.

Then two scoundrels came and sat opposite him and brought charges against Naboth before the people, saying,“ Naboth has cursed both God and the king.” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death.
