Those who enact unjust policies are as good as dead, those who are always instituting unfair regulations,

制定不义律例、起草不公法令的人啊，你们有祸了！

那些制定奸恶律例的，和那些记录诡诈判语的，有祸了！

祸哉！那些制定邪恶律例、记录不义判决的！

制定不義律例、起草不公法令的人啊，你們有禍了！

禍哉！那些制定邪惡律例、記錄不義判決的！

立不義之律、錄乖戾之詞、

立法嚴酷、載之典章、虐遇其民、其有禍乎。

立不善之法度、錄不義之判語、

Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees,

How terrible it will be for you who make laws that aren’t fair! How terrible for you who write laws that make life hard for others!

Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression,

What sorrow awaits the unjust judges and those who issue unfair laws.

Woe to those enacting crooked statutes and writing oppressive laws

Woe to those who enact unjust statutes And to those who constantly record harmful decisions,

“ Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, Which they have prescribed

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers that write perverseness;

Woe to those enacting crooked statutes and writing oppressive laws

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness[ which] they have prescribed;

Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write oppressive decrees;

Woe to you experts in religious law! You have taken away the key to knowledge! You did not go in yourselves, and you hindered those who were going in.”

“ Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You give a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, yet you neglect what is more important in the law– justice, mercy, and faithfulness! You should have done these things without neglecting the others.

“ But woe to you Pharisees! You give a tenth of your mint, rue, and every herb, yet you neglect justice and love for God! But you should have done these things without neglecting the others.Woe to you Pharisees! You love the best seats in the synagogues and elaborate greetings in the marketplaces!Woe to you! You are like unmarked graves, and people walk over them without realizing it!”

Those who accumulate houses are as good as dead, those who also accumulate landed property until there is no land left, and you are the only landowners remaining within the land.

I said,“ Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the nation of Israel! You ought to know what is just,yet you hate what is good, and love what is evil. You flay my people’s skin and rip the flesh from their bones.You devour my people’s flesh, strip off their skin, and crush their bones. You chop them up like flesh in a pot– like meat in a kettle.Someday these sinners will cry to the LORD for help, but he will not answer them. “ But all these nations will someday taunt him and ridicule him with proverbial sayings:‘ The one who accumulates what does not belong to him is as good as dead( How long will this go on?)– he who gets rich by extortion!’

Cruel rulers are not your allies, those who make oppressive laws.They conspire against the blameless, and condemn to death the innocent.

“ But woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You keep locking people out of the kingdom of heaven! For you neither enter nor permit those trying to enter to go in.

But Jesus replied,“ Woe to you experts in religious law as well! You load people down with burdens difficult to bear, yet you yourselves refuse to touch the burdens with even one of your fingers!Woe to you! You build the tombs of the prophets whom your ancestors killed.

Those who call evil good and good evil are as good as dead, who turn darkness into light and light into darkness, who turn bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter.Those who think they are wise are as good as dead, those who think they possess understanding.Those who are champions at drinking wine are as good as dead, who display great courage when mixing strong drinks.

You implement the regulations of Omri, and all the practices of Ahab’s dynasty; you follow their policies. Therefore I will make you an appalling sight, the city’s inhabitants will be taunted derisively, and nations will mock all of you.”

Those who pull evil along using cords of emptiness are as good as dead, who pull sin as with cart ropes.

“ Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs that look beautiful on the outside but inside are full of the bones of the dead and of everything unclean.

“ Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.

“‘ Sure to be judged is the king who builds his palace using injustice and treats people unfairly while adding its upper rooms. He makes his countrymen work for him for nothing. He does not pay them for their labor.

The one who builds his house by unjust gain is as good as dead. He does this so he can build his nest way up high and escape the clutches of disaster.

Listen to this, you leaders of the family of Jacob, you rulers of the nation of Israel! You hate justice and pervert all that is right.You build Zion through bloody crimes, Jerusalem through unjust violence.Her leaders take bribes when they decide legal cases, her priests proclaim rulings for profit, and her prophets read omens for pay. Yet they claim to trust the LORD and say,“ The LORD is among us. Disaster will not overtake us!”

Now let the king issue a written interdict so that it cannot be altered, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be changed.So King Darius issued the written interdict.

“ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

Woe to them! For they have traveled down Cain’s path, and because of greed have abandoned themselves to Balaam’s error; hence, they will certainly perish in Korah’s rebellion.

Those who get up early to drink beer are as good as dead, those who keep drinking long after dark until they are intoxicated with wine.

Too bad for the wicked sinners! For they will get exactly what they deserve.
