in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

Instead, each of them will sit under his vine And under his fig tree, With no one to make them afraid, Because the mouth of the Lord of armies has spoken.

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every violation and act of disobedience received a just punishment,how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?
