When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts?

Who asked you to bring all these animals when you come to worship me? Who asked you and your animals to walk all over my courtyards?

When you enter my presence, do you actually think I want this– animals trampling on my courtyards?

Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord Yahweh.

As a nation that did righteousness, and didn’t forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments. They delight to draw near to God.

Three times in a year all of your males shall appear before Yahweh your God in the place which he chooses: in the feast of unleavened bread, in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of booths. They shall not appear before Yahweh empty.

Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire. You have opened my ears. You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.

He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Guard your steps when you go to God’s house; for to draw near to listen is better than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they don’t know that they do evil.
