Foreigners sap his strength, but he does not realize it. His hair is sprinkled with gray, but he does not notice.

People from other lands make them weaker and weaker. But they don’t realize it. Their hair is becoming gray. But they don’t even notice it.

Strangers devour his strength, and he knows it not; gray hairs are sprinkled upon him, and he knows it not.

Worshiping foreign gods has sapped their strength, but they don’t even know it. Their hair is gray, but they don’t realize they’re old and weak.

你们的土地荒芜，城镇被火烧毁；你们的田地在你们眼前被陌生人侵吞，既被陌生人倾覆，就成为荒芜。

但这百姓是被抢被夺的，全都陷在洞穴中，关在监牢里；他们成了掠物，无人拯救，成了掳物，无人索还。你们中间谁肯侧耳听这话，谁肯留心听，以防将来呢？谁将雅各交出作为掳物，将以色列交给抢夺者呢？岂不是耶和华—我们所得罪的那位吗？他们不肯遵行他的道，也不听从他的训诲。所以，他将猛烈的怒气和战争的威力倾倒在以色列身上；在他周围如火燃起，他竟然不知，烧着了，他也不在意。

于是，耶和华的怒气向以色列发作，将他们屡次交在亚兰王哈薛和他儿子便‧哈达的手里。约哈斯恳求耶和华，耶和华就应允他，因为耶和华看见以色列所受的欺压，因亚兰王欺压他们。耶和华赐给以色列一位拯救者，使他们脱离亚兰人的手，于是以色列人仍旧安居在自己的帐棚里。然而他们不离开耶罗波安家使以色列陷入罪里的那罪，仍行在罪中，并且在撒玛利亚留下亚舍拉。亚兰王灭绝约哈斯的军队，践踏他们如禾场上的尘沙，只给约哈斯留下五十骑兵，十辆战车，一万步兵。

亚述王普勒来攻击这地，米拿现给他一千他连得银子，为了请普勒帮助他巩固他所掌握的国度。

约哈斯在位年间，亚兰王哈薛屡次欺压以色列。
