Foreigners sap his strength, but he does not realize it. His hair is sprinkled with gray, but he does not notice.

People from other lands make them weaker and weaker. But they don’t realize it. Their hair is becoming gray. But they don’t even notice it.

Strangers devour his strength, and he knows it not; gray hairs are sprinkled upon him, and he knows it not.

义人死亡，没有人放在心上；虔诚人去世，也没有人明白；义人去世，是脱离了祸患。

你们的土地荒凉，你们的城镇被火烧毁，你们的田地，在你们面前给外族人侵吞；被外族人倾覆之后，就荒凉了。

但这人民是被抢劫和被掠夺的，全都困陷在洞穴中，被收藏在监牢里；他们作了掠物，无人搭救；他们成了掳物，无人说：“要归还！”你们中间谁肯听这话呢？谁肯从今以后留心听呢？谁把雅各交出来给掠夺者？谁把以色列交给抢劫的呢？岂不是耶和华，就是我们得罪的那位吗？因为他们不肯遵行他的道，也不肯听从他的律法。因此，他把他猛烈的怒气和惨酷的战争，倾倒在他身上；这在他四周如火烧起来，他还不知道；把他烧着了，他也不放在心上。

于是耶和华的怒气向以色列发作，常把他们交在亚兰王哈薛的手中和哈薛的儿子便．哈达的手中。约哈斯恳求耶和华，耶和华垂听他的祷告，因为看见了以色列所受的压迫，就是亚兰王对他们的压迫。耶和华就赐给以色列一位拯救者，他救他们脱离亚兰王的手，于是以色列人可以在自己的家安居，好像以前一样。可是他们没有离开耶罗波安家使以色列人陷于罪中的那些罪，仍然行在罪中；亚舍拉依然立在撒玛利亚。于是耶和华没有给约哈斯留下余民，只剩下骑兵五十人，战车十辆和步兵一万人，因为亚兰王毁灭他们，践踏他们好像禾场上的尘土。

亚述王普勒来攻打以色列地，米拿现给普勒三万公斤银子，请普勒帮助他坚固王位。

约哈斯在位的日子，亚兰王哈薛一直都欺压以色列。
