They do not cry out to me from their hearts but wail on their beds. They slash themselves, appealing to their gods for grain and new wine, but they turn away from me.

“你要告訴這地的人民和祭司說：‘這七十年來，你們在五月和七月禁食哀哭，豈是真的為我禁食呢？

他們在各祭壇旁，躺臥在別人抵押的衣服上面；在他們神的殿中，飲用拿剝削回來的錢所買的酒。

神擊殺他們的時候，他們就尋求他；他們回轉過來，切切求問神。他們也想起神是他們的磐石，至高的神是他們的救贖主。但他們仍然用口欺騙他，用舌頭向他說謊。他們的心對他不堅定，也不忠於和他所立的約。

看哪！我的僕人必因心裡高興而歡呼，你們卻要因心中傷痛而哀叫，因靈裡破碎而哀號。

主說：“因為這子民只用言語來親近我，用嘴唇尊崇我，他們的心卻遠離我。他們對我的敬畏，只是遵從傳統的吩咐。

若有人隨從虛假的心，撒謊說：“我要向你們說清酒和烈酒的預言。”那人就是這民的預言家了。

他們出到田間去，收取葡萄，榨酒，舉行慶祝會，進入他們的神廟吃喝，並且咒詛亞比米勒。

他們的結局是滅亡，他們的神是自己的肚腹，他們以自己的羞辱為榮耀，所思想的都是地上的事。

“到那日，聖殿的歌聲必變為哀號；屍首眾多，拋棄各處；你們要肅靜。”這是主耶和華的宣告。

耶和華對我說：“你再去愛一個婦人，這婦人是為情人所愛，又是個淫婦，就像耶和華愛以色列人，雖然他們轉去跟隨別神，喜愛葡萄餅。”

現在我在這裡作甚麼呢？”耶和華說：“我的子民毫無代價被取去；統治他們的人大肆咆哮。”耶和華說：“我的名終日不住被藐視。

你們富有的人哪，應當為那將要臨到你們的災禍哭泣哀號。

次日清早，人民起來，就獻上了燔祭，也帶來了平安祭；然後他們坐下吃喝，起來玩樂。

因為這樣的人不服事我們的主基督，只服事自己的肚腹，用花言巧語欺騙老實人的心。

撒瑪利亞必承擔自己罪的刑罰，因為他背叛了他的神。他們必倒在刀下。他們的嬰孩被摔死，他們的孕婦必被剖開肚腹。”（本節在《馬索拉文本》為14:1）
