Woe to them, because they have strayed from me! Destruction to them, because they have rebelled against me! I long to redeem them but they speak about me falsely.

How terrible it will be for them! They have wandered away from me. So they will be destroyed. That’s because they have refused to obey me. I long to save them. But they tell lies about me.

“ What sorrow awaits those who have deserted me! Let them die, for they have rebelled against me. I wanted to redeem them, but they have told lies about me.

“ Ephraim has encircled Me with lies, And the house of Israel with deceit; But Judah still walks with God, Even with the Holy One who is faithful.

Thus says the Lord to this people:“ Thus they have loved to wander; They have not restrained their feet. Therefore the Lord does not accept them; He will remember their iniquity now, And punish their sins.”

The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel:“ Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.

“ Then it was so, after all your wickedness—‘ Woe, woe to you!’ says the Lord GOD—

For He said,“ Surely they are My people, Children who will not lie.” So He became their Savior.

In transgressing and lying against the Lord, And departing from our God, Speaking oppression and revolt, Conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

“ Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair?

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the Lord!

“ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today.

Yet they say to God,‘ Depart from us, For we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways.Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him? And what profit do we have if we pray to Him?’

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

“ What do you mean when you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying:‘ The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children’s teeth are set on edge’?

“ Your words have been harsh against Me,” Says the Lord,“ Yet you say,‘ What have we spoken against You?’You have said,‘ It is useless to serve God; What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, And that we have walked as mourners Before the Lord of hosts?So now we call the proud blessed, For those who do wickedness are raised up; They even tempt God and go free.’”

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,And gathered out of the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.

They said to God,‘ Depart from us! What can the Almighty do to them?’

As they called them, So they went from them; They sacrificed to the Baals, And burned incense to carved images.

But we will certainly do whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, were well-off, and saw no trouble.But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been consumed by the sword and by famine.”

My God will cast them away, Because they did not obey Him; And they shall be wanderers among the nations.

“ Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you,” says the Lord And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

They make a king glad with their wickedness, And princes with their lies.

For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, I redeemed you from the house of bondage; And I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

“ Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.”’”And they said,“ That is hopeless! So we will walk according to our own plans, and we will every one obey the dictates of his evil heart.”

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

For you were hypocrites in your hearts when you sent me to the Lord your God, saying,‘ Pray for us to the Lord our God, and according to all that the Lord your God says, so declare to us and we will do it.’

Then the men were exceedingly afraid, and said to him,“ Why have you done this?” For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them.

“ When I would have healed Israel, Then the iniquity of Ephraim was uncovered, And the wickedness of Samaria. For they have committed fraud; A thief comes in; A band of robbers takes spoil outside.

Now these are Your servants and Your people, whom You have redeemed by Your great power, and by Your strong hand.
