Israel’s arrogance testifies against him, but despite all this he does not return to the Lord his God or search for him.

The pride of Israel proves that they are guilty. But in spite of everything, they don’t return to the Lord their God. They don’t go to him for help.

Then I would send rain on one city, But on another city I would not send rain; One part would be rained on, While the part not rained on would dry up.So the people of two or three cities would stagger to another city to drink water, But would not be satisfied; Yet you have not returned to Me,” declares the Lord.“ I struck you with scorching wind and mildew; The caterpillar was devouring Your many gardens and vineyards, fig trees and olive trees; Yet you have not returned to Me,” declares the Lord.“ I sent a plague among you as in Egypt; I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses, And I made the stench of your camp rise up in your nostrils; Yet you have not returned to Me,” declares the Lord.“ I overthrew you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, And you were like a log snatched from a fire; Yet you have not returned to Me,” declares the Lord.“ Therefore so I will do to you, Israel; Because I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God, Israel.”For behold, He who forms mountains and creates the wind, And declares to a person what are His thoughts, He who makes dawn into darkness And treads on the high places of the earth, The Lord God of armies is His name.

There is no one who understands, There is no one who seeks out God;

Therefore the showers have been withheld, And there has been no spring rain. Yet you had a prostitute’s forehead; You refused to be ashamed.

The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of mankind To see if there are any who understand, Who seek God.

Though you pound the fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, His foolishness still will not leave him.

Why has this people, Jerusalem, Turned away in continual apostasy? They hold on to deceit, They refuse to return.I have listened and heard, They have spoken what is not right; No one repented of his wickedness, Saying,‘ What have I done?’ Everyone turned to his own course, Like a horse charging into the battle.

saying,‘ Turn now, everyone from his evil way and from the evil of your deeds, and live on the land which the Lord has given to you and your forefathers forever and ever;and do not follow other gods to serve them and to worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, then I will do you no harm.’Yet you have not listened to Me,” declares the Lord,“ in order to provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands to your own harm.

“ Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.” ’ But they did not listen or pay attention to Me,” declares the Lord.

“ Come, let’s return to the Lord. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us.

All of them are hot like an oven, And they consume their rulers; All their kings have fallen. None of them calls on Me.

Also I have sent to you all My servants the prophets, sending them again and again, saying:‘ Turn now every person from his evil way and amend your deeds, and do not follow other gods to worship them. Then you will live in the land which I have given to you and to your forefathers; but you have not inclined your ear or listened to Me.Indeed, the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have followed the command of their father which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to Me.’ ” ’Therefore this is what the Lord says, the God of armies, the God of Israel:‘ Behold, I am bringing on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the disaster that I have pronounced against them; because I spoke to them but they did not listen, and I have called them but they did not answer.’ ”

The wicked, in his haughtiness, does not seek Him. There is no God in all his schemes.

God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of mankind To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God.
