I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the Lord.“ I overthrew some of you as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the Lord.“ Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I will do this to you, Israel, prepare to meet your God.” (niv)

They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.They shoot from ambush at the innocent; they shoot suddenly, without fear.They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say,“ Who will see it?”They plot injustice and say,“ We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the human mind and heart are cunning. Woe to the city of oppressors, rebellious and defiled!She obeys no one, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the Lord, she does not draw near to her God. (niv)

Therefore I cut you in pieces with my prophets, I killed you with the words of my mouth— then my judgments go forth like the sun. (niv)
