Then I will return to my lair until they have borne their guilt and seek my face— in their misery they will earnestly seek me.”

O Lord, in distress they sought you; they poured out a whispered prayer when your discipline was upon them.

But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice.For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.

who say to a tree,‘ You are my father,’ and to a stone,‘ You gave me birth.’ For they have turned their back to me, and not their face. But in the time of their trouble they say,‘ Arise and save us!’

and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

Only acknowledge your guilt, that you rebelled against the Lord your God and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree, and that you have not obeyed my voice, declares the Lord.

When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying,‘ Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you,‘ I do not know where you come from.’

My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

And the glory of the Lord went up from the midst of the city and stood on the mountain that is on the east side of the city.

For what is the hope of the godless when God cuts him off, when God takes away his life?Will God hear his cry when distress comes upon him?Will he take delight in the Almighty? Will he call upon God at all times?

I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying,“ O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules.We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.To you, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, those who are near and those who are far away, in all the lands to which you have driven them, because of the treachery that they have committed against you.To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against himand have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.All Israel has transgressed your law and turned aside, refusing to obey your voice. And the curse and oath that are written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him.He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing upon us a great calamity. For under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem.

Remember the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying,‘ If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples,but if you return to me and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there I will gather them and bring them to the place that I have chosen, to make my name dwell there.’

“ If they sin against you— for there is no one who does not sin— and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to a land far or near,yet if they turn their heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity, saying,‘ We have sinned and have acted perversely and wickedly,’

And you shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you.There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will give you in commandment for the people of Israel.

And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord,so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.Then Solomon said,“ The Lord has said that he would dwell in thick darkness.I have indeed built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever.”

For behold, the Lord is coming out of his place, and will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth.

And the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord.
