以法莲看见自己的疾病，犹大家看见自己的创伤，以法莲就往亚述去，派人去见亚述的大王。可是他却不能医治你们，也不能医好你们的创伤。

“以法莲见自己有病，犹大见自己有伤，他们就打发人往亚述去见耶雷布王，他却不能医治你们，不能治好你们的伤。

“ When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his sores, then Ephraim turned to Assyria, and sent to the great king for help. But he is not able to cure you, not able to heal your sores.

“ The people of Ephraim saw how sick they were. The people of Judah saw that they were wounded. Then Ephraim turned to Assyria for help. They sent gifts to the great King Tiglath- Pileser. But he is not able to make you well. He can’t heal your wounds.

以法莲好像一只愚蠢无知的鸽子。他们向埃及求助，投奔亚述。

人要把它带到亚述去，作贡物献给那里的大王。以法莲必受羞辱，以色列必因自己的计谋蒙羞。

“以法莲吃风，整天追赶东风，增添虚谎和强暴。他们与亚述结盟，又给埃及送油。”（本节在《马索拉文本》为12:2）

他们上去投奔亚述，像一只独行的野驴，以法莲贿买爱人。

亚述王普勒来攻打以色列地，米拿现给普勒三万公斤银子，请普勒帮助他坚固王位。

“耶和华这样说：‘你的损伤无法痊愈，你的创伤不能医治。

你所有的盟友都忘记了你，不再关心你；我击打了你，好像仇敌击打你，又好像残暴的人惩罚你一样；都因你的罪孽甚多，你的罪恶无数。你为什么因你的损伤哀叫呢？你的病痛无法痊愈。我这样对你，是因你的罪孽甚多，你的罪恶无数。

亚述不能救我们，我们必不再骑马；我们亲手所做的，我们必不再称为‘我们的神’；因为在你那里，孤儿才得着怜悯。”

因为撒玛利亚的创伤无法医治，并且殃及犹大，直逼我子民的城门，就是耶路撒冷。

那时，亚哈斯王派人去求亚述王（按照《马索拉文本》的绝大部分文本，“王”作“诸王”；现参照另一份文本和各古译本翻译；参20节和王下16:7）帮助他，因为以东人又来攻打犹大，掳走了许多人。非利士人也侵入了高原和犹大南面的众城，占领了伯．示麦、亚雅仑、基低罗、梭哥和属于梭哥的村庄，亭纳和属于亭纳的村庄，瑾琐和属于瑾琐的村庄，并且住在那里。

亚述王提革拉．毗尼色来到他那里，不但没有援助他，反倒欺压他。亚哈斯取了耶和华殿里和王宫中，以及众领袖家里的财宝，给了亚述王，但也无济于事。

以色列王比加在位的日子，亚述王提革拉．毗列色前来，攻取了以云、亚伯．伯．玛迦、亚挪、基低斯、夏琐、基列、加利利和拿弗他利全地，把居民掳到亚述去。

于是亚哈斯差派使者去见亚述王提革拉．毗列色，说：“我是你的臣仆，你的儿子，求你上来，救我脱离那起来攻击我的亚兰王和以色列王的手。”
