Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

You stumble day and night, and the prophets stumble with you. So I will destroy your mother—

You trip and fall day and night. And the prophets fall down along with you. So I will destroy your nation. She is the one who gave birth to you.

You shall stumble by day; the prophet also shall stumble with you by night; and I will destroy your mother.

So you will stumble in broad daylight, and your false prophets will fall with you in the night. And I will destroy Israel, your mother.

Therefore you shall stumble in the day; The prophet also shall stumble with you in the night; And I will destroy your mother.

You stumble day and night, and the false prophets stumble with you; You have destroyed your own people!

Plead with your mother, plead: for she[ is] not my wife, neither[ am] I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused[ him] to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.

But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul lothed them, and their soul also abhorred me.

And their houses shall be turned unto others,[ with their] fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one[ is] given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.They have healed also the hurt[ of the daughter] of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when[ there is] no peace.Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time[ that] I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.The ancient and honourable, he[ is] the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he[ is] the tail.For the leaders of this people cause[ them] to err; and[ they that are] led of them[ are] destroyed.Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one[ is] an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand[ is] stretched out still.

Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations[ shall be] a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness.

For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I[ am] the LORD.And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh[ unto him];

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts,[ that] I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

Therefore will I give their wives unto others,[ and] their fields to them that shall inherit[ them]: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when[ there is] no peace.Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.Therefore night[ shall be] unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for[ there is] no answer of God.

Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.

And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I[ am] the Lord GOD.Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and[ there was] no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered[ morter]:Say unto them which daub[ it] with untempered[ morter], that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend[ it].Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where[ is] the daubing wherewith ye have daubed[ it]?Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend[ it] with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in[ my] fury to consume[ it].So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered[ morter], and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I[ am] the LORD.Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered[ morter], and will say unto you, The wall[ is] no[ more], neither they that daubed it;[ To wit], the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and[ there is] no peace, saith the Lord GOD.

Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use[ this] proverb against thee, saying, As[ is] the mother,[ so is] her daughter.Thou[ art] thy mother’s daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou[ art] the sister of thy sisters, which lothed their husbands and their children: your mother[ was] an Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

Thus saith the LORD, Where[ is] the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors[ is it] to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know[ it]: the prophet[ is] a fool, the spiritual man[ is] mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.The watchman of Ephraim[ was] with my God:[ but] the prophet[ is] a snare of a fowler in all his ways,[ and] hatred in the house of his God.
