As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them!I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer.Give them— Yahweh what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.“ All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of my house! I will love them no more. All their princes are rebels.Ephraim is struck. Their root has dried up. They will bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb.”My God will cast them away, because they didn’t listen to him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.

Now after the death of Jehoiada, the princes of Judah came, and bowed down to the king. Then the king listened to them.

The righteous one eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the belly of the wicked goes hungry.

The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so the people without understanding will come to ruin.

“ But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, should he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.

But as for those who turn away to their crooked ways, Yahweh will lead them away with the workers of iniquity. Peace be on Israel.

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says,“ Behold, my servants will eat, but you will be hungry; behold, my servants will drink, but you will be thirsty. Behold, my servants will rejoice, but you will be disappointed;Behold, my servants will sing for joy of heart, but you will cry for sorrow of heart, and will wail for anguish of spirit.You will leave your name for a curse to my chosen; and the Lord Yahweh will kill you. He will call his servants by another name,so that he who blesses himself in the earth will bless himself in the God of truth; and he who swears in the earth will swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from my eyes.

You had now turned, and had done that which is right in my eyes, in every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor. You had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name;

“ Now, you priests, this commandment is for you.If you will not listen, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to my name,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ then I will send the curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have cursed them already, because you do not take it to heart.Behold, I will rebuke your offspring, and will spread dung on your faces, even the dung of your feasts; and you will be taken away with it.

those who have turned back from following Yahweh, and those who haven’t sought Yahweh nor inquired after him.

For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.But it has happened to them according to the true proverb,“ The dog turns to his own vomit again,” and“ the sow that has washed to wallowing in the mire.”
