And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

耶和華曰、昔彼奉事巴力、為之焚香、以耳環珍寶自飾、從其情人而忘我、我必討之、

耶和華曰、越在疇昔、斯民焚香、奉事巴力、違逆乎我、譬彼婦女、以耳環金索、修飾自好、從其所懽、故我必加以罰、

彼平日奉事諸巴力、為之焚香、以鼻環金索、修飾自好、從愛之者反忘我、故我必罰之、此乃主所言、

I will punish her for the days she burned incense to the Baals; she decked herself with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, but me she forgot,” declares the Lord.

Israel burned incense to the gods that were named Baal. I will punish her for all the times she did that. She decorated herself with rings and jewelry. Then she went after her lovers. But she forgot all about me,” declares the Lord.

And I will punish her for the feast days of the Baals when she burned offerings to them and adorned herself with her ring and jewelry, and went after her lovers and forgot me, declares the Lord.

I will punish her for all those times when she burned incense to her images of Baal, when she put on her earrings and jewels and went out to look for her lovers but forgot all about me,” says the Lord.

And I will punish her for the days of the Baals, to which she burned incense. She put on her rings and her jewelry and followed her lovers, but she forgot me. This is the LORD’s declaration.

I will punish her for the days of the Baals When she used to offer sacrifices to them And adorn herself with her nose ring and jewelry, And follow her lovers, so that she forgot Me,” declares the Lord.

I will punish her For the days of the Baals to which she burned incense. She decked herself with her earrings and jewelry, And went after her lovers; But Me she forgot,” says the Lord.

And I will visit upon her the days of the Baalim, unto which she burned incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith Jehovah.

And I will punish her for the days of the Baals when she burned incense to them, put on her rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, but forgot Me. This is the Lord’s declaration.

“ I will punish her for the festival days when she burned incense to the Baal idols; she adorned herself with earrings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, but she forgot me!” says the LORD.

I will visit on her the days of the Baals, to which she burned incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgot me,” says Yahweh.

[ As] they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.

When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.

According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.

Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

They have deeply corrupted[ themselves], as in the days of Gibeah:[ therefore] he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time:[ but] they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto[ that] shame; and[ their] abominations were according as they loved.

The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know[ it]: the prophet[ is] a fool, the spiritual man[ is] mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.

And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.Now therefore send,[ and] gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD[ be] God, follow him: but if Baal,[ then] follow him. And the people answered him not a word.Then said Elijah unto the people, I,[ even] I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets[ are] four hundred and fifty men.Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay[ it] on wood, and put no fire[ under]: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay[ it] on wood, and put no fire[ under]:And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress[ it] first; for ye[ are] many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire[ under].And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed[ it], and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But[ there was] no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he[ is] a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey,[ or] peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the[ time] of the offering of the[ evening] sacrifice, that[ there was] neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD[ that was] broken down.And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid[ him] on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour[ it] on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.And he said, Do[ it] the second time. And they did[ it] the second time. And he said, Do[ it] the third time. And they did[ it] the third time.And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.And it came to pass at[ the time of] the offering of the[ evening] sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou[ art] God in Israel, and[ that] I[ am] thy servant, and[ that] I have done all these things at thy word.Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou[ art] the LORD God, and[ that] thou hast turned their heart back again.Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that[ was] in the trench.And when all the people saw[ it], they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he[ is] the God; the LORD, he[ is] the God.And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways[ from] the ancient paths, to walk in paths,[ in] a way not cast up;

For[ according to] the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and[ according to] the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to[ that] shameful thing,[ even] altars to burn incense unto Baal.

They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof[ is] good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give[ me] my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

[ Then] beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that[ was] in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.

And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger[ was] sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,And satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil.And a voice of a multitude being at ease[ was] with her: and with the men of the common sort[ were] brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.

Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:Lest[ when] thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt[ therein];And[ when] thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD.

So[ are] the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:

Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them,

And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

And when they forgat the LORD their God, he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that[ were] round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

Of the Rock[ that] begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find[ them]: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then[ was it] better with me than now.

For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done:[ thou art] a swift dromedary traversing her ways;A wild ass used to the wilderness,[ that] snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.

For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

Can a maid forget her ornaments,[ or] a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

Therefore now go, lead the people unto[ the place] of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
