你曾求我说：‘给我立王和首领。’现在你的王在哪里呢？治理你的在哪里呢？让他在你所有的城中拯救你吧！

现在，你的王在哪里呢？让他在你的各城中拯救你吧！你曾说“给我立君王和官长”，那些治理你的又在哪里呢？

你曾求我为你设立君王和首领，现在拯救你的君王在哪里呢？在各城管理你的首领在哪里呢？

现在你的王在哪里？让他拯救你吧！你所有的领袖在哪里？让他们治理你吧！因为论到他们你曾请求：‘把王和领袖赐给我。’

論到王和首領你曾求說：『將王和首領賜給我吧！』那麼你的王在哪裏，好拯救你呢？你的首領都在哪裏，好保衛你呢？

昔爾曰、以王與牧伯賜我、今爾王安在、俾救爾於諸邑、爾之士師安在、

昔爾求我、欲得王公、護爾城邑、今爾王安在、士師安在、

昔爾求我云、願為我設立王公、或作昔爾求我云願為我設王為我立侯伯今爾王安在、治理爾者安在、何不在爾諸邑救護爾、

Where is your king, that he may save you? Where are your rulers in all your towns, of whom you said,‘ Give me a king and princes’?

Where is your king? Wasn’t he supposed to save you? Where are the rulers in all your towns? You said,‘ Give us a king and princes.’

Where now is your king, to save you in all your cities? Where are all your rulers— those of whom you said,“ Give me a king and princes”?

Now where is your king? Let him save you! Where are all the leaders of the land, the king and the officials you demanded of me?

Where now is your king, that he may save you in all your cities, and the rulers you demanded, saying,“ Give me a king and leaders”?

對他說：「看哪，你老了，你的兒子們又不行你的道，所以請你為我們立一個王來治理我們，像其他國家那樣。」他們說「請為我們立一個王來治理我們」，這話讓撒母耳很愁煩，他就向耶和華禱告。

——耶和華是我們的審判者，耶和華是我們的立法者，耶和華是我們的王，他必拯救我們——

願以色列因造他的主而歡喜，願錫安的兒女因他們的王而快樂！

我是耶和華，是你們的聖者，是創造以色列的主，是你們的王。」

拿旦業說：「拉比，你是神的兒子，你是以色列的王！」

於是耶和華派遣了耶路巴力、比丹、耶弗塔、撒母耳。耶和華解救你們脫離四圍仇敵的手，你們就安然居住。可是當你們看到亞捫人的王納哈什來攻擊你們，就對我說：『不，我們必須要一個王統治我們。』其實耶和華你們的神就是你們的王。

你們當歌頌，歌頌神！你們當歌頌，歌頌我們的王；因為神是全地的王。你們當用智慧詩來歌頌他！

因為我們的盾牌屬於耶和華，我們的王屬於以色列的聖者。

耶和華必作全地的王；到那日，耶和華就是獨一無二的，他的名也是獨一無二的。

然而，民眾不肯聽從撒母耳的話，他們說：「不，必須有一個王來統治我們！我們也要像其他國家那樣，有自己的王治理我們，率領我們出征，為我們作戰。」

神哪，你是我的王，求你命定雅各得拯救！

神哪，你自古以來就是我的王，你在地上施行拯救！

耶和華永永遠遠是王，列國都要從他的地上滅亡。
