Where is your king, that he may save you? Where are your rulers in all your towns, of whom you said,‘ Give me a king and princes’?

Where is your king? Wasn’t he supposed to save you? Where are the rulers in all your towns? You said,‘ Give us a king and princes.’

Where now is your king, to save you in all your cities? Where are all your rulers— those of whom you said,“ Give me a king and princes”?

Now where is your king? Let him save you! Where are all the leaders of the land, the king and the officials you demanded of me?

Where then is your king, That he might save you in all your cities; And your judges, to whom you said,“ Give me a king and princes”?

They have installed kings, but not through me. They have appointed leaders, but without my approval. They make their silver and gold into idols for themselves for their own destruction.

They said to him,“ Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Therefore, appoint a king to judge us the same as all the other nations have.”When they said,“ Give us a king to judge us,” Samuel considered their demand wrong, so he prayed to the LORD.

In fact, they are now saying,“ We have no king! For we do not fear the LORD. What can a king do for us?”

When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come back, they summoned him to the assembly and made him king over all Israel. No one followed the house of David except the tribe of Judah alone.

But the king of Assyria caught Hoshea in a conspiracy: He had sent envoys to So king of Egypt and had not paid tribute to the king of Assyria as in previous years. Therefore the king of Assyria arrested him and put him in prison.

The LORD raised up judges, who saved them from the power of their marauders,but they did not listen to their judges. Instead, they prostituted themselves with other gods, bowing down to them. They quickly turned from the way of their ancestors, who had walked in obedience to the LORD’s commands. They did not do as their ancestors did.Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for the Israelites, the LORD was with him and saved the people from the power of their enemies while the judge was still alive. The LORD was moved to pity whenever they groaned because of those who were oppressing and afflicting them.

For the LORD is our Judge, the LORD is our Lawgiver, the LORD is our King. He will save us.

Let Israel celebrate its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.

I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.

But where are your gods you made for yourself? Let them rise up and save you in your time of disaster if they can, for your gods are as numerous as your cities, Judah.

“ Rabbi,” Nathanael replied,“ You are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel!”

So the LORD sent Jerubbaal, Barak, Jephthah, and Samuel. He rescued you from the power of the enemies around you, and you lived securely.But when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites was coming against you, you said to me,‘ No, we must have a king reign over us’— even though the LORD your God is your king.

He will say,“ Where are their gods, the‘ rock’ they found refuge in?Who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you; let it be a shelter for you.See now that I alone am he; there is no God but me. I bring death and I give life; I wound and I heal. No one can rescue anyone from my power.

Sing praise to God, sing praise; sing praise to our King, sing praise!Sing a song of wisdom, for God is King of the whole earth.

Surely our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.

On that day the LORD will become King over the whole earth— the LORD alone, and his name alone.

The people refused to listen to Samuel.“ No!” they said.“ We must have a king over us.Then we’ll be like all the other nations: our king will judge us, go out before us, and fight our battles.”

You are my King, my God, who ordains victories for Jacob.

Listen— the cry of my dear people from a faraway land,“ Is the LORD no longer in Zion, her King not within her?” Why have they angered me with their carved images, with their worthless foreign idols?

God my King is from ancient times, performing saving acts on the earth.

The LORD is King forever and ever; the nations will perish from his land.

I have been the LORD your God ever since the land of Egypt; you know no God but me, and no Savior exists besides me.
