爾在伯特利、多行不義、主必使爾敗北、以色列王忽致殞亡。

爾曹遇此、皆伯特利所使、皆因爾之大惡、以色列王必朝時殞亡、

So will it happen to you, Bethel, because your wickedness is great. When that day dawns, the king of Israel will be completely destroyed.

People of Bethel, that will happen to you. You have committed far too many sins. When the time comes for me to punish you, the king of Israel will be completely destroyed.”

Thus it shall be done to you, O Bethel, because of your great evil. At dawn the king of Israel shall be utterly cut off.

You will share that fate, Bethel, because of your great wickedness. When the day of judgment dawns, the king of Israel will be completely destroyed.

The people who live in Samaria fear for the calf-idol of Beth Aven. Its people will mourn over it, and so will its idolatrous priests, those who had rejoiced over its splendor, because it is taken from them into exile. (niv)

Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.Don’t prophesy anymore at Bethel, because this is the king’s sanctuary and the temple of the kingdom.”Amos answered Amaziah,“ I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore- fig trees.But the Lord took me from tending the flock and said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’Now then, hear the word of the Lord. You say,“‘ Do not prophesy against Israel, and stop preaching against the descendants of Isaac.’“ Therefore this is what the Lord says:“‘ Your wife will become a prostitute in the city, and your sons and daughters will fall by the sword. Your land will be measured and divided up, and you yourself will die in a pagan country. And Israel will surely go into exile, away from their native land.’” (niv)
