Ephraim is a trained heifer that loves to thresh; so I will put a yoke on her fair neck. I will drive Ephraim, Judah must plow, and Jacob must break up the ground.

Ephraim was like a well- trained young cow. It loved to thresh grain. So I will put a yoke on its pretty neck. I will make Ephraim do hard work. Judah also must plow. So all the people of Jacob must break up the ground.

Ephraim was a trained calf that loved to thresh, and I spared her fair neck; but I will put Ephraim to the yoke; Judah must plow; Jacob must harrow for himself.

“ Israel is like a trained heifer treading out the grain— an easy job she loves. But I will put a heavy yoke on her tender neck. I will force Judah to pull the plow and Israel to break up the hard ground.

Ephraim is a well-trained calf that loves to thresh, but I will place a yoke on her fine neck. I will harness Ephraim; Judah will plow; Jacob will do the final plowing.

以色列倔强，好像倔强的母牛，现在耶和华怎样牧放他们，好像牧放宽阔草场上的羊羔呢？

“抢夺我产业的啊！你们虽然欢喜快乐，像踹谷的母牛犊跳跃，像雄壮的马嘶叫；

“牛在踹谷的时候，不可笼住它的嘴。

因为这样的人不服事我们的主基督，只服事自己的肚腹，用花言巧语欺骗老实人的心。

因此，耶和华他的神把他交在亚兰王手里；亚兰王击败了他，掳走了他很多人民，带到大马士革去。神又把他交在以色列王手里，以色列王就在犹大进行大屠杀。利玛利的儿子比加在犹大一天之内杀了十二万人，全是勇士，因为他们离弃了耶和华他们列祖的神。有一个以法莲的勇士，名叫细基利，杀了王的儿子玛西雅、王宫的总管押斯利甘和王的宰相以利加拿。以色列人从他们的兄弟中掳走妇孺共二十万人；又从他们中间夺取了很多战利品，带回撒玛利亚去。

因为他们的母亲卖了淫，怀他们的作了羞耻的事；因为她曾说：‘我要跟随我那些爱人。我的饼和水，羊毛和麻布，油和我所喝的，都是他们给的。’

农夫怎会不断耕犁来撒种呢？他怎会常常开垦耕地呢？

耶和华对我说：“你再去爱一个妇人，这妇人是为情人所爱，又是个淫妇，就像耶和华爱以色列人，虽然他们转去跟随别神，喜爱葡萄饼。”

以色列啊！不要欢喜；不要像外族人一样快乐，因为你行了邪淫，离开你的神，在各打谷场上喜爱卖淫的赏赐。

我用慈绳爱索（“慈绳爱索”原文意思不易肯定，或作“人的绳子、爱的绳索”或“皮制的绳索”）牵引他们，我待他们像人拉高牛的轭在两颚之上，又向他们俯身，喂养他们。
