Then someone who is ceremonially clean must take a hyssop branch and dip it into the water. That person must sprinkle the water on the tent, on all the furnishings in the tent, and on the people who were in the tent; also on the person who touched a human bone, or touched someone who was killed or who died naturally, or touched a grave.

Eleazar the priest must then take a stick of cedar, a hyssop branch, and some scarlet yarn and throw them into the fire where the heifer is burning.

With his own blood— not the blood of goats and calves— he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.

God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace.

Then he sent some of the young Israelite men to present burnt offerings and to sacrifice bulls as peace offerings to the Lord.Moses drained half the blood from these animals into basins. The other half he splattered against the altar.Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it aloud to the people. Again they all responded,“ We will do everything the Lord has commanded. We will obey.”Then Moses took the blood from the basins and splattered it over the people, declaring,“ Look, this blood confirms the covenant the Lord has made with you in giving you these instructions.”Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel climbed up the mountain.There they saw the God of Israel. Under his feet there seemed to be a surface of brilliant blue lapis lazuli, as clear as the sky itself.And though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, he did not destroy them. In fact, they ate a covenant meal, eating and drinking in his presence!

Then he must take some of the blood of the bull, dip his finger in it, and sprinkle it on the east side of the atonement cover. No one may enter until he comes out again after purifying himself, his family, and all the congregation of Israel, making them right with the Lord.“ Then Aaron will come out to purify the altar that stands before the Lord. He will do this by taking some of the blood from the bull and the goat and putting it on each of the horns of the altar.

he will perform a purification ceremony, using two live birds that are ceremonially clean, a stick of cedar, some scarlet yarn, and a hyssop branch.The priest will order that one bird be slaughtered over a clay pot filled with fresh water.He will take the live bird, the cedar stick, the scarlet yarn, and the hyssop branch, and dip them into the blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water.The priest will then sprinkle the blood of the dead bird seven times on the person being purified of the skin disease. When the priest has purified the person, he will release the live bird in the open field to fly away.

To purify the house the priest must take two birds, a stick of cedar, some scarlet yarn, and a hyssop branch.He will slaughter one of the birds over a clay pot filled with fresh water.He will take the cedar stick, the hyssop branch, the scarlet yarn, and the live bird, and dip them into the blood of the slaughtered bird and into the fresh water. Then he will sprinkle the house seven times.When the priest has purified the house in exactly this way,

“ If you present an animal from the flock as a peace offering to the Lord, it may be a male or a female, but it must have no defects.

You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.

“ Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you present an animal as an offering to the Lord, you may take it from your herd of cattle or your flock of sheep and goats.“ If the animal you present as a burnt offering is from the herd, it must be a male with no defects. Bring it to the entrance of the Tabernacle so you may be accepted by the Lord.

“ Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols.

They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him.

“ If the animal you present as a burnt offering is from the flock, it may be either a sheep or a goat, but it must be a male with no defects.

They dressed him in a purple robe, and they wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head.

The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him.

For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

Drain the blood into a basin. Then take a bundle of hyssop branches and dip it into the blood. Brush the hyssop across the top and sides of the doorframes of your houses. And no one may go out through the door until morning.

When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified.

And he will startle many nations. Kings will stand speechless in his presence. For they will see what they had not been told; they will understand what they had not heard about.

Then Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said,“ Look, here is the man!”

Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
