曩者吾攜厥祖出埃及、亦有所締結。若輩不守吾約遭擯棄、新約迥與舊約異！」

It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.

這些都是有寓意的。就是說，這兩個女人是兩個約。一個出於西奈山，生子為奴，她就是夏甲。

掃羅從地上爬起來，睜開眼睛，卻什麼也看不見。他們牽著他的手，把他帶進大馬士革。

那時，他想起古時的日子，就是摩西和他子民的日子：那把他們和他群羊的牧人們從海裡帶上來的，在哪裡呢？那把他的聖靈降在他們當中的，在哪裡呢？那讓自己榮耀的膀臂在摩西右邊作工，在他們面前把水分開，為自己成就永遠之名的，在哪裡呢？那領他們走過深淵的，在哪裡呢？他們像曠野中的馬沒有絆跌；

他們沒有遵守神的約，不肯按照他的律法而行。他們忘掉了他所行的，以及他顯明給他們的奇妙作為。

弟兄們，我按人的意思說話：甚至是人的約，一旦證實了，也沒有人能廢棄或加添。神的各樣應許，原是對亞伯拉罕和他的一個後裔說的。神並沒有說「後裔們」，像是指著許多人；而是說「你的一個後裔」，像是指著一個人，這一位就是基督。我說的這話是：四百三十年以後出現的律法，不能廢棄神預先立好的約，使那應許無效。如果繼業是本於律法，就不再是本於應許了；但是神把繼業賜給亞伯拉罕是藉著應許。那麼，為什麼要有律法呢？律法是為了過犯的緣故被加上的，直到那蒙應許的後裔來臨；律法是藉著天使，通過中保的手所規定的。

你所生的眾子中，沒有一個人帶領你；你養大的眾子中，沒有一個人緊拉著你的手。

他們退縮、背信，如同他們的祖先；他們扭曲，如同鬆弛的弓。

他必像牧人牧養自己的羊群，把羊羔聚集在他的膀臂下，把牠們抱在自己的懷中，又溫柔地引領哺乳的母羊。

他領出自己的子民如同領出羊群，在曠野引領他們如同引領畜群。他引導他們安然行進，使他們不懼怕；海水卻淹沒了他們的仇敵。他帶他們來到他聖地的邊界，到他右手所得的那座山。

他使自己的子民歡樂地出來，使自己的選民歡呼而出。

大地被其上的居民玷汙，因為他們違背律法，違犯律例，破壞永遠的約。因此詛咒吞噬大地，其上的居民必承受罪責；因此地上的居民被焚燒，只有少數人殘留下來。

因為我耶和華你的神，緊拉著你的右手，對你說：「不要害怕，我必幫助你！」

耶穌牽著瞎眼之人的手，領他到村子外面，吐唾沫在他的眼睛上，按手在他身上，問他：「你是否看見什麼？」

你藉著摩西和亞倫的手，引導你的子民如同引導羊群。

他在他們的一切患難中也受患難，並且他面前的使者拯救了他們。他以自己的愛和憐恤救贖了他們，在古時所有的日子裡舉起他們、背負他們。

羅得還在猶豫，那兩個人因耶和華憐恤羅得就抓住他的手，以及他妻子和兩個女兒的手，把他們領出來，安置在城外面。

看哪，現在主的手臨到你，你要瞎眼，暫時看不見日光。」立刻，迷霧和黑暗籠罩了他，他四處摸索，求人牽手領路。

原來不用血，第一個約也不能成立，就是說，摩西按照律法向全體民眾宣講了所有的誡命之後，拿了牛犢和山羊的血，摻上水，用深紅色的羊毛和牛膝草，灑在那書卷上和全體民眾身上，說：「這是立約的血，是神吩咐給你們的。」

你們又行了另一件事：用眼淚、哭泣和呻吟遮蓋耶和華的祭壇；因為耶和華不再垂顧你們的供物，也不從你們手中悅納它們。
