那么，如果百姓藉着利未人的祭司职任能达到完全—因为百姓是在这职分下领受律法的—为什么还需要按照麦基洗德的体系另外兴起一位祭司，而不按照亚伦的体系呢？既然祭司的职分已更改，律法也需要更改。因为这些话所指的人本属别的支派，那支派里从来没有一人在祭坛前事奉的。很明显地，我们的主是从犹大出来的；但关于这支派，摩西并没有提到祭司。倘若有另一位像麦基洗德的祭司兴起来，我的话就更显而易见了。

给以色列人作纪念，为要叫亚伦子孙之外的人不得近前来，在耶和华面前烧香，免得他和可拉与同他一伙的人一样，正如耶和华藉摩西所吩咐的。

凡从人间挑选的大祭司都是奉派替人办理属上帝的事，要为罪献上礼物和祭物。

他们阻止乌西雅王，对他说：“乌西雅啊，给耶和华烧香不是你的事，而是亚伦子孙的事，他们是分别为圣来烧香的祭司。你出圣殿吧！因为你犯了罪，耶和华上帝必不使你得尊荣。”乌西雅发怒，手拿香炉要烧香。他在耶和华殿中香坛旁向众祭司发怒的时候，他的额头在众祭司面前忽然长出麻风。

你们要负责看守圣所和祭坛，免得愤怒再临到以色列人。

因着信，亚伯献祭给上帝比该隐所献的更美，因此获得了赞许为义人，上帝亲自悦纳了他的礼物。他虽然死了，却因这信仍旧在说话。

以色列人对摩西说：“看哪，我们死啦！我们灭亡啦！我们全都灭亡啦！凡挨近耶和华帐幕的，就必死亡。我们都要消灭而死吗？”
