那麼，如果百姓藉着利未人的祭司職任能達到完全－因為百姓是在這職分下領受律法的－為甚麼還需要按照麥基洗德的體系另外興起一位祭司，而不按照亞倫的體系呢？既然祭司的職分已更改，律法也需要更改。因為這些話所指的人本屬別的支派，那支派裏從來沒有一人在祭壇前事奉的。很明顯地，我們的主是從猶大出來的；但關於這支派，摩西並沒有提到祭司。倘若有另一位像麥基洗德的祭司興起來，我的話就更顯而易見了。

給以色列人作紀念，為要叫亞倫子孫之外的人不得近前來，在耶和華面前燒香，免得他和可拉與同他一夥的人一樣，正如耶和華藉摩西所吩咐的。

凡從人間挑選的大祭司都是奉派替人辦理屬神的事，要為罪獻上禮物和祭物。

他們阻止烏西雅王，對他說：「烏西雅啊，給耶和華燒香不是你的事，而是亞倫子孫的事，他們是分別為聖來燒香的祭司。你出聖殿吧！因為你犯了罪，耶和華神必不使你得尊榮。」烏西雅發怒，手拿香爐要燒香。他在耶和華殿中香壇旁向眾祭司發怒的時候，他的額頭在眾祭司面前忽然長出痲瘋。

你們要負責看守聖所和祭壇，免得憤怒再臨到以色列人。

因着信，亞伯獻祭給神比該隱所獻的更美，因此獲得了讚許為義人，神親自悅納了他的禮物。他雖然死了，卻因這信仍舊在說話。

以色列人對摩西說：「看哪，我們死啦！我們滅亡啦！我們全都滅亡啦！凡挨近耶和華帳幕的，就必死亡。我們都要消滅而死嗎？」
