这样看来，如果藉着利未人的祭司制度能达到完全的地步（人民是在这制度下领受律法的），为什么还需要照着麦基洗德的体系，另外兴起一位祭司，而不照着亚伦的体系呢？祭司的制度既然更改了，律法也必须更改。因为这些话所指的那位，原是属于另外一个支派的，这支派向来没有人在祭坛前供职。我们的主明明是从犹大支派出来的，关于这个支派，摩西并没有提及祭司的事。如果有另一位像麦基洗德那样的祭司兴起来，那么，这里所说的就更明显了。

给以色列人作鉴戒，叫不是亚伦子孙的外人，不可近前来，在耶和华面前烧香，免得他像可拉和他的同党有一样的遭遇；这是照着耶和华藉摩西吩咐以利亚撒的。

每一个大祭司都是从人间选出来，奉派替人办理与神有关的事，为的是要献上礼物和赎罪的祭物。

他们阻止乌西雅王，对他说：“乌西雅啊，给耶和华烧香不是你应作的事，而是亚伦的子孙作祭司的事，他们是分别为圣作烧香的事；请离开圣所吧，因为你作了不应该作的事了，你必不能从耶和华神那里得着尊荣。”于是乌西雅十分忿怒，手里拿着香炉正要烧香，他向众祭司发怒的时候，就在耶和华的殿里香坛旁边众祭司的面前，他的额上忽然长出了大痲风。

你们要看守圣所和祭坛，免得震怒再临到以色列人。

因着信，亚伯比该隐献上更美的祭品给神；藉着这信心，他被神称许为义人，这是神指着他的礼物所作的见证；他虽然死了，却藉着信仍然说话。

以色列人对摩西说：“我们要死了，我们灭亡了，我们都灭亡了。走近耶和华帐幕的，都必定死；难道我们都要死吗？”
