But Melchizedek who does not share their ancestry collected a tithe from Abraham and blessed the one who possessed the promise.

但麥基洗德不屬利未譜系、乃取什一於亞伯拉罕而祝其蒙許者、

惟麥基洗德、非由利未出、而於亞伯拉罕所有者、什一取之、且亞伯拉罕素蒙上帝許、而麥基洗德為之祝嘏、

麥基洗德雖不屬利未之族、猶於亞伯拉罕之物、什取其一、且為蒙應許者祝福、

惟不與若輩同族之麥基德、乃受貢於亞伯漢、且為彼承有恩諾之身祝嘏焉。

This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.

Melchizedek did not trace his family line from Levi. But he collected a tenth from Abraham. Melchizedek blessed the one who had received the promises.

But this man who does not have his descent from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.

But Melchizedek, who was not a descendant of Levi, collected a tenth from Abraham. And Melchizedek placed a blessing upon Abraham, the one who had already received the promises of God.

But one without this lineage collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises.

But the one whose genealogy is not traced from them collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises.

but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.

but he whose genealogy is not counted from them hath taken tithes of Abraham, and hath blessed him that hath the promises.

But one without this lineage collected tenths from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises.

But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.

For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not fulfilled through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.

He blessed Abram, saying,“ Blessed be Abram by the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth.Worthy of praise is the Most High God, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything.

Without father, without mother, without genealogy, he has neither beginning of days nor end of life but is like the son of God, and he remains a priest for all time.But see how great he must be, if Abraham the patriarch gave him a tithe of his plunder.

You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors, saying to Abraham,‘ And in your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed.’

These all died in faith without receiving the things promised, but they saw them in the distance and welcomed them and acknowledged that they were strangers and foreigners on the earth.

“ As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of a multitude of nations.No longer will your name be Abram. Instead, your name will be Abraham because I will make you the father of a multitude of nations.I will make you extremely fruitful. I will make nations of you, and kings will descend from you.I will confirm my covenant as a perpetual covenant between me and you. It will extend to your descendants after you throughout their generations. I will be your God and the God of your descendants after you.I will give the whole land of Canaan– the land where you are now residing– to you and your descendants after you as a permanent possession. I will be their God.”

So tell them you are my sister so that it may go well for me because of you and my life will be spared on account of you.”

Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, so that you will exemplify divine blessing.

After Lot had departed, the LORD said to Abram,“ Look from the place where you stand to the north, south, east, and west.I will give all the land that you see to you and your descendants forever.And I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone is able to count the dust of the earth, then your descendants also can be counted.Get up and walk throughout the land, for I will give it to you.”

I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies.Because you have obeyed me, all the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.’”

Now this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, met Abraham as he was returning from defeating the kings and blessed him.

Now when God made his promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself,saying,“ Surely I will bless you greatly and multiply your descendants abundantly.”And so by persevering, Abraham inherited the promise.

who are Israelites. To them belong the adoption as sons, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple worship, and the promises.

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac. He had received the promises, yet he was ready to offer up his only son.

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. Scripture does not say,“ and to the descendants,” referring to many, but“ and to your descendant,” referring to one, who is Christ.
