爾試思之、先祖亞伯拉罕、取戰時所獲者十分之一、輸麥基洗德、則其尊為何若、

爾試思之、祖亞伯拉罕、以所獲者什取一以供之、則其人之尊貴何如、

爾等盍一思之、我先祖亞伯漢、且以其戰利珍品什一以貢焉、則麥基德之尊貴為何如乎？

Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!

Think how great Melchizedek was! Even our father Abraham gave him a tenth of what he had captured.

See how great this man was to whom Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils!

Consider then how great this Melchizedek was. Even Abraham, the great patriarch of Israel, recognized this by giving him a tenth of what he had taken in battle.

「諸位弟兄，先祖大衛的事，我可以坦然地對你們說：他死了，也埋葬了，而且他的墳墓直到今日還在我們這裏。

至高的上帝把敵人交在你手裏，他是應當稱頌的！」亞伯蘭就把所有的拿出十分之一給他。

上帝又賜他割禮的約。於是亞伯拉罕生了以撒，在第八日給他行了割禮；後來以撒生雅各，雅各生十二位先祖。「先祖嫉妒約瑟，把他賣到埃及去，上帝卻與他同在，

不再分猶太人或希臘人，不再分為奴的自主的，不再分男的女的，因為你們在基督耶穌裏都成為一了。既然你們屬於基督，你們就是亞伯拉罕的子孫，是照着應許承受產業的了。

我必使你成為大國，我必賜福給你，使你的名為大；你要使別人得福。

這正應驗了經上所說：「亞伯拉罕信了上帝，這就算他為義」；他又得稱為上帝的朋友。

並且，他受了割禮的記號，作他未受割禮的時候因信稱義的印證，為使他作一切未受割禮而信之人的父，使他們也算為義，也使他作受割禮之人的父，就是那些不但受割禮，而且跟隨我們的祖宗亞伯拉罕未受割禮而信的足跡的人。因為上帝給亞伯拉罕和他後裔承受世界的應許不是藉着律法，而是藉着信而得的義。

從今以後，你的名字不再叫亞伯蘭，要叫亞伯拉罕，因為我已經立你作多國之父。我必使你生養極其繁多；國度要從你而立，君王要從你而出。
