爾試思之、先祖亞伯拉罕、取戰時所獲者十分之一、輸麥基洗德、則其尊為何若、

爾試思之、祖亞伯拉罕、以所獲者什取一以供之、則其人之尊貴何如、

爾等盍一思之、我先祖亞伯漢、且以其戰利珍品什一以貢焉、則麥基德之尊貴為何如乎？

Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!

Think how great Melchizedek was! Even our father Abraham gave him a tenth of what he had captured.

See how great this man was to whom Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils!

Consider then how great this Melchizedek was. Even Abraham, the great patriarch of Israel, recognized this by giving him a tenth of what he had taken in battle.

「弟兄們！先祖大衛的事，我可以明明地對你們說：他死了，也葬埋了，並且他的墳墓直到今日還在我們這裏。

至高的神把敵人交在你手裏，是應當稱頌的！」亞伯蘭就把所得的拿出十分之一來，給麥基洗德。

神又賜他割禮的約。於是亞伯拉罕生了以撒，第八日給他行了割禮。以撒生雅各；雅各生十二位先祖。「先祖嫉妒約瑟，把他賣到埃及去；神卻與他同在，

並不分猶太人、希臘人，自主的、為奴的，或男或女，因為你們在基督耶穌裏都成為一了。你們既屬乎基督，就是亞伯拉罕的後裔，是照着應許承受產業的了。

我必叫你成為大國。我必賜福給你，叫你的名為大；你也要叫別人得福。

亞伯拉罕所信的，是那叫死人復活、使無變為有的神，他在主面前作我們世人的父。如經上所記：「我已經立你作多國的父。」他在無可指望的時候，因信仍有指望，就得以作多國的父，正如先前所說：「你的後裔將要如此。」

這就應驗經上所說：「亞伯拉罕信神，這就算為他的義。」他又得稱為神的朋友。

並且他受了割禮的記號，作他未受割禮的時候因信稱義的印證，叫他作一切未受割禮而信之人的父，使他們也算為義；又作受割禮之人的父，就是那些不但受割禮，並且按我們的祖宗亞伯拉罕未受割禮而信之蹤跡去行的人。因為神應許亞伯拉罕和他後裔，必得承受世界，不是因律法，乃是因信而得的義。

從此以後，你的名不再叫亞伯蘭，要叫亞伯拉罕，因為我已立你作多國的父。我必使你的後裔極其繁多；國度從你而立，君王從你而出。
