for the law made nothing perfect. On the other hand a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

蓋律法固未曾躋一事於完成也；而一新興美滿之希望、已見曙光、吾人之得進而趨近天主者、於是乎賴。

The law didn’t make anything perfect. Now a better hope has been given to us. That hope brings us near to God.

Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.

This was a symbol for the time then present, when gifts and sacrifices were offered that could not perfect the conscience of the worshiper.

and by this one everyone who believes is justified from everything from which the law of Moses could not justify you.

For God achieved what the law could not do because it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

so that we who have found refuge in him may find strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us through two unchangeable things, since it is impossible for God to lie.

yet we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

For the law possesses a shadow of the good things to come but not the reality itself, and is therefore completely unable, by the same sacrifices offered continually, year after year, to perfect those who come to worship.

But now in Christ Jesus you who used to be far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.For he is our peace, the one who made both groups into one and who destroyed the middle wall of partition, the hostility,when he nullified in his flesh the law of commandments in decrees. He did this to create in himself one new man out of two, thus making peace,and to reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by which the hostility has been killed.And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near,so that through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

through whom we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of God’s glory.

But as for me, God’s presence is all I need. I have made the sovereign LORD my shelter, as I declare all the things you have done.

God wanted to make known to them the glorious riches of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Thus the law had become our guardian until Christ, so that we could be declared righteous by faith.

So if perfection had in fact been possible through the Levitical priesthood– for on that basis the people received the law– what further need would there have been for another priest to arise, said to be in the order of Melchizedek and not in Aaron’s order?

From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,

Jesus replied,“ I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

For God had provided something better for us, so that they would be made perfect together with us.

So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

in whom we have boldness and confident access to God because of Christ’s faithfulness.

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.

For no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.But now apart from the law the righteousness of God( which is attested by the law and the prophets) has been disclosed–

But now Jesus has obtained a superior ministry, since the covenant that he mediates is also better and is enacted on better promises.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,by the fresh and living way that he inaugurated for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,and since we have a great priest over the house of God,let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.
