For it is clear that our Lord is descended from Judah, yet Moses said nothing about priests in connection with that tribe.

For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests.

It is clear that our Lord came from the family line of Judah. Moses said nothing about priests who were from the tribe of Judah.

For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, and in connection with that tribe Moses said nothing about priests.

What I mean is, our Lord came from the tribe of Judah, and Moses never mentioned priests coming from that tribe.

These are the descendants of Perez: Perez was the father of Hezron,Hezron was the father of Ram, Ram was the father of Amminadab,Amminadab was the father of Nachshon, Nachshon was the father of Salmah,Salmon was the father of Boaz, Boaz was the father of Obed,Obed was the father of Jesse, and Jesse was the father of David.

Thomas replied to him,“ My Lord and my God!”

Judah the father of Perez and Zerah( by Tamar), Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram,Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,Salmon the father of Boaz( by Rahab), Boaz the father of Obed( by Ruth), Obed the father of Jesse,and Jesse the father of David the king. David was the father of Solomon( by the wife of Uriah),Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa,Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah,Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon.After the deportation to Babylon, Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor,Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud,Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.

“ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star!”

And do you think, whoever you are, when you judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself, that you will escape God’s judgment?

And who am I that the mother of my Lord should come and visit me?

( just as it is written in the law of the Lord,“ Every firstborn male will be set apart to the Lord”),and to offer a sacrifice according to what is specified in the law of the Lord, a pair of doves or two young pigeons.Now there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon who was righteous and devout, looking for the restoration of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.So Simeon, directed by the Spirit, came into the temple courts, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what was customary according to the law,Simeon took him in his arms and blessed God, saying,“ Now, according to your word, Sovereign Lord, permit your servant to depart in peace.For my eyes have seen your salvationthat you have prepared in the presence of all peoples:a light, for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”So the child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him.

“ I, the LORD, promise that a new time will certainly come when I will raise up for them a righteous branch, a descendant of David. He will rule over them with wisdom and understanding and will do what is just and right in the land.Under his rule Judah will enjoy safety and Israel will live in security. This is the name he will go by:‘ The LORD has provided us with justice.’

The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah( but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
