For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests.

“ I, Jesus, have sent My angel to attest these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star.”

Do you really think— anyone of you who judges those who do such things yet do the same— that you will escape God’s judgment?

I see him, but not now; I perceive him, but not near. A star will come from Jacob, and a scepter will arise from Israel. He will smash the forehead of Moab and strike down all the Shethites.

How could this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens.

More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of Him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them filth, so that I may gain Christ

( just as it is written in the law of the Lord: Every firstborn male will be dedicated to the Lord)and to offer a sacrifice( according to what is stated in the law of the Lord: a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons).There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking forward to Israel’s consolation, and the Holy Spirit was on him.It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he saw the Lord’s Messiah.Guided by the Spirit, he entered the temple complex. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform for Him what was customary under the law,Simeon took Him up in his arms, praised God, and said:Now, Master, You can dismiss Your slave in peace, as You promised.For my eyes have seen Your salvation.You have prepared it in the presence of all peoples—a light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory to Your people Israel.His father and mother were amazed at what was being said about Him.

“ The days are coming”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ when I will raise up a Righteous Branch of David. He will reign wisely as king and administer justice and righteousness in the land.In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is what He will be named: Yahweh Our Righteousness.

Judah’s sons: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. Perez’s sons: Hezron and Hamul.
