For[ it is] impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

乃有始則明道、蒙天錫賚、共享聖神、

蓋人已蒙光照、受天上賞賜、得聖神之感、

蓋人若曾蒙光照、曾味靈寵、曾受聖神、

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,

What if some people fall away from the faith? It won’t be possible to bring them back. It is true that they have seen the light. They have tasted the heavenly gift. They have shared in the Holy Spirit.

For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit,

For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened— those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit,

For it is impossible to renew to repentance those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, who shared in the Holy Spirit,

For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,

For as touching those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known[ it], to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog[ is] turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast[ them] into the fire, and they are burned.

If any man see his brother sin a sin[ which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last[ state] of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.And when he cometh, he findeth[ it] swept and garnished.Then goeth he, and taketh[ to him] seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last[ state] of that man is worse than the first.

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High,[ which] saw the vision of the Almighty, falling[ into a trance], but having his eyes open:

John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:[ it is] the gift of God:

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble[ you], and thereby many be defiled;Lest there[ be] any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy[ against] the[ Holy] Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the[ world] to come.

Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

God also bearing[ them] witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become[ as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.And though I have[ the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you,[ doeth he it] by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as[ he did] unto us;

Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as[ he did] unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
