Where, O Death, is your sting?”The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law;but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt.

And some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers as well were conversing with him. Some were saying,“ What could this scavenger of tidbits want to say?” Others,“ He seems to be a proclaimer of strange deities,”— because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.

But as he was discussing righteousness, self control, and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and responded,“ Go away for now, and when I have an opportunity, I will summon you.”

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones.He had me pass among them all around, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley; and behold, they were very dry.Then He said to me,“ Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered,“ Lord God, You Yourself know.”Again He said to me,“ Prophesy over these bones and say to them,‘ You dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.’This is what the Lord God says to these bones:‘ Behold, I am going to make breath enter you so that you may come to life.And I will attach tendons to you, make flesh grow back on you, cover you with skin, and put breath in you so that you may come to life; and you will know that I am the Lord.’ ”So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a loud noise, and behold, a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to its bone.And I looked, and behold, tendons were on them, and flesh grew and skin covered them; but there was no breath in them.Then He said to me,“ Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath,‘ The Lord God says this:“ Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, so that they come to life.” ’ ”So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.Then He said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are the entire house of Israel; behold, they say,‘ Our bones are dried up and our hope has perished. We are completely cut off.’Therefore prophesy and say to them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am going to open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel.Then you will know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, My people.And I will put My Spirit within you and you will come to life, and I will place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have spoken and done it,” declares the Lord.’ ”

Then a matter of dispute developed on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about purification.And they came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified— behold, He is baptizing and all the people are coming to Him.”

And I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me,‘ He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

“ Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?”

And he took them that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household.

So then, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that He was making and baptizing more disciples than John( although Jesus Himself was not baptizing; rather, His disciples were),

But when they believed Philip as he was preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were being baptized.Now even Simon himself believed; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he observed signs and great miracles taking place, he was repeatedly amazed.Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John,who came down and prayed for them that they would receive the Holy Spirit.( For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,

So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

The one who has believed and has been baptized will be saved; but the one who has not believed will be condemned.

But Paul, perceiving that one group were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, began crying out in the Council,“ Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees; I am on trial for the hope and resurrection of the dead!”

“ But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.And all the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, just as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;and He will put the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left.“ Then the King will say to those on His right,‘ Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’Then the righteous will answer Him,‘ Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink?And when did we see You as a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’And the King will answer and say to them,‘ Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’“ Then He will also say to those on His left,‘ Depart from Me, you accursed people, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink;I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’Then they themselves also will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or as a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’Then He will answer them,‘ Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for Me, either.’These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Why is it considered incredible among you people if God raises the dead?

having a hope in God, which these men cherish themselves, that there shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.

who once were disobedient when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you— not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience— through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Then, when they had fasted, prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

since they relate only to food, drink, and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until a time of reformation.

For they all had her in marriage.”But Jesus answered and said to them,“ You are mistaken, since you do not understand the Scriptures nor the power of God.For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God:‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.

Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits.

being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep.For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.Therefore, comfort one another with these words.

But John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?”

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive compensation for his deeds done through the body, in accordance with what he has done, whether good or bad.

who will transform the body of our lowly condition into conformity with His glorious body, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.

As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch* said,“ Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?”

and they all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

other than in regard to this one declaration which I shouted while standing among them,‘ For the resurrection of the dead I am on trial before you today!’ ”

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled, and no place was found for them.And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them; and they were judged, each one of them according to their deeds.Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people.

Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying,“ I am with Paul,” or“ I am with Apollos,” or“ I am with Cephas,” or“ I am with Christ.”Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?I am thankful that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,so that no one would say you were baptized in my name!But I did baptize the household of Stephanas also; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else.For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made of no effect.

and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”

When the Pharisee saw this, he was surprised that Jesus had not first ceremonially washed before the meal.

John responded to them all, saying,“ As for me, I baptize you with water; but He is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the straps of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,who will repay each person according to his deeds:to those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life;but to those who are self serving and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, He will give wrath and indignation.There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of mankind who does evil, for the Jew first and also for the Greek,but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who does what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

men who have gone astray from the truth, claiming that the resurrection has already taken place; and they are jeopardizing the faith of some.

But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!

Martha* said to Him,“ I know that he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”Jesus said to her,“ I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies,

and will come out: those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the bad deeds to a resurrection of judgment.
