Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to shame and eternal contempt.

Then also, some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers argued with him. Some said,“ What is this pseudo-intellectual trying to say?” Others replied,“ He seems to be a preacher of foreign deities”— because he was telling the good news about Jesus and the Resurrection.

Now as he spoke about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid and replied,“ Leave for now, but when I find time I’ll call for you.”

There were a great many of them on the surface of the valley, and they were very dry.Then He said to me,“ Son of man, can these bones live?” I replied,“ Lord God, only You know.”He said to me,“ Prophesy concerning these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!This is what the Lord God says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live.I will put tendons on you, make flesh grow on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”So I prophesied as I had been commanded. While I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.As I looked, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.He said to me,“ Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man. Say to it: This is what the Lord God says: Breath, come from the four winds and breathe into these slain so that they may live!”So I prophesied as He commanded me; the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, a vast army.Then He said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look how they say,‘ Our bones are dried up, and our hope has perished; we are cut off.’Therefore, prophesy and say to them: This is what the Lord God says: I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them, My people, and lead you into the land of Israel.You will know that I am Yahweh, My people, when I open your graves and bring you up from them.I will put My Spirit in you, and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I am Yahweh. I have spoken, and I will do it.” This is the declaration of the Lord.

Then a dispute arose between John’s disciples and a Jew about purification.So they came to John and told him,“ Rabbi, the One you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan, is baptizing— and everyone is flocking to Him.”

I didn’t know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The One you see the Spirit descending and resting on— He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

“ Can anyone withhold water and prevent these people from being baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”

He took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds. Right away he and all his family were baptized.

When Jesus knew that the Pharisees heard He was making and baptizing more disciples than John( though Jesus Himself was not baptizing, but His disciples were),

But when they believed Philip, as he preached the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.Then even Simon himself believed. And after he was baptized, he went around constantly with Philip and was astounded as he observed the signs and great miracles that were being performed.When the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had welcomed God’s message, they sent Peter and John to them.After they went down there, they prayed for them, so the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit.For He had not yet come down on any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.When Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,

and asked them,“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”“ No,” they told him,“ we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”“ Then what baptism were you baptized with?” he asked them.“ With John’s baptism,” they replied.Paul said,“ John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people that they should believe in the One who would come after him, that is, in Jesus.”When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began to speak in other languages and to prophesy.

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

When Paul realized that one part of them were Sadducees and the other part were Pharisees, he cried out in the Sanhedrin,“ Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees! I am being judged because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead!”

“ When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on the left.Then the King will say to those on His right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me.’“ Then the righteous will answer Him,‘ Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink?When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or without clothes and clothe You?When did we see You sick, or in prison, and visit You?’“ And the King will answer them,‘ I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’Then He will also say to those on the left,‘ Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his angels!For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink;I was a stranger and you didn’t take Me in; I was naked and you didn’t clothe Me, sick and in prison and you didn’t take care of Me.’“ Then they too will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or sick, or in prison, and not help You?’“ Then He will answer them,‘ I assure you: Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me either.’“ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Why is it considered incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?

And I have a hope in God, which these men themselves also accept, that there is going to be a resurrection, both of the righteous and the unrighteous.

who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah while an ark was being prepared. For God will bring every act to judgment, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil.

Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For you will be covered with the morning dew, and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.

because they were provoked that they were teaching the people and proclaiming the resurrection from the dead, using Jesus as the example.

Since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.For we say this to you by a revelation from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly have no advantage over those who have fallen asleep.For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will always be with the Lord.Therefore encourage one another with these words.

But John tried to stop Him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me?”

For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or worthless.

He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself.

As they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The eunuch said,“ Look, there’s water! What would keep me from being baptized?”

and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

or about this one statement I cried out while standing among them,‘ Today I am being judged before you concerning the resurrection of the dead.’”

The Devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.Then I saw a great white throne and One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them.I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their works by what was written in the books.Then the sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead; all were judged according to their works.Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

But by the same word, the present heavens and earth are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

What I am saying is this: Each of you says,“ I’m with Paul,” or“ I’m with Apollos,” or“ I’m with Cephas,” or“ I’m with Christ.”Is Christ divided? Was it Paul who was crucified for you? Or were you baptized in Paul’s name?I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,so that no one can say you were baptized in my name.I did, in fact, baptize the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t know if I baptized anyone else.For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize— not with clever words, so that the cross of Christ will not be emptied of its effect.

And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Disregarding the command of God, you keep the tradition of men.”

When the Pharisee saw this, he was amazed that He did not first perform the ritual washing before dinner.

John answered them all,“ I baptize you with water, but One is coming who is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to untie the strap of His sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

But because of your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.He will repay each one according to his works:eternal life to those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality;but wrath and indignation to those who are self-seeking and disobey the truth but are obeying unrighteousness;affliction and distress for every human being who does evil, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek;but glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does what is good, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.

They have deviated from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and are overturning the faith of some.

But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how it consumes Me until it is finished!

Martha said,“ I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”Jesus said to her,“ I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live.

and come out— those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of judgment.

For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body— whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free— and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
