And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

Abraham was patient while he waited. Then he received what God promised him.

that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing:and I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curseth thee will I curse: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

( as it is written, A father of many nations have I made thee) before him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not, as though they were.Who in hope believed against hope, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, So shall thy seed be.And without being weakened in faith he considered his own body now as good as dead( he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb;yet, looking unto the promise of God, he wavered not through unbelief, but waxed strong through faith, giving glory to God,and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.Wherefore also it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned unto him;but for our sake also, unto whom it shall be reckoned, who believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.

And Abram said, O Lord Jehovah, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and he that shall be possessor of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.And, behold, the word of Jehovah came unto him, saying, This man shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.And he believed in Jehovah; and he reckoned it to him for righteousness.

And Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it.For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hasteth toward the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.

And Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh; every one that heareth will laugh with me.And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should give children suck? for I have borne him a son in his old age.

And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

And I will bless her, and moreover I will give thee a son of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be of her.Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
