He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness.

Some people have gone astray without knowing it. He is able to deal gently with them. He can do that because he himself is weak.

He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness.

Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.

The law appointed high priests who were limited by human weakness. But after the law was given, God appointed his Son with an oath, and his Son has been made the perfect High Priest forever.

Each time he said,“ My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.

Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.

Surely you remember that I was sick when I first brought you the Good News.

Finally, he turned to Aaron and demanded,“ What did these people do to you to make you bring such terrible sin upon them?”“ Don’t get so upset, my lord,” Aaron replied.“ You yourself know how evil these people are.They said to me,‘ Make us gods who will lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.’So I told them,‘ Whoever has gold jewelry, take it off.’ When they brought it to me, I simply threw it into the fire— and out came this calf!”

Then he and Aaron summoned the people to come and gather at the rock.“ Listen, you rebels!” he shouted.“ Must we bring you water from this rock?”Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the staff, and water gushed out. So the entire community and their livestock drank their fill.But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not trust me enough to demonstrate my holiness to the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land I am giving them!”

“ But suppose you unintentionally fail to carry out all these commands that the Lord has given you through Moses.And suppose your descendants in the future fail to do everything the Lord has commanded through Moses.If the mistake was made unintentionally, and the community was unaware of it, the whole community must present a young bull for a burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. It must be offered along with its prescribed grain offering and liquid offering and with one male goat for a sin offering.With it the priest will purify the whole community of Israel, making them right with the Lord, and they will be forgiven. For it was an unintentional sin, and they have corrected it with their offerings to the Lord— the special gift and the sin offering.The whole community of Israel will be forgiven, including the foreigners living among you, for all the people were involved in the sin.“ If one individual commits an unintentional sin, the guilty person must bring a one year old female goat for a sin offering.The priest will sacrifice it to purify the guilty person before the Lord, and that person will be forgiven.These same instructions apply both to native born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you.

That experience is worth boasting about, but I’m not going to do it. I will boast only about my weaknesses.

even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief.

How quickly they have turned away from the way I commanded them to live! They have melted down gold and made a calf, and they have bowed down and sacrificed to it. They are saying,‘ These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”

So Aaron said,“ Take the gold rings from the ears of your wives and sons and daughters, and bring them to me.”All the people took the gold rings from their ears and brought them to Aaron.Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed,“ O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!”Aaron saw how excited the people were, so he built an altar in front of the calf. Then he announced,“ Tomorrow will be a festival to the Lord!”

While they were at Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses because he had married a Cushite woman.They said,“ Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Hasn’t he spoken through us, too?” But the Lord heard them.( Now Moses was very humble— more humble than any other person on earth.)So immediately the Lord called to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam and said,“ Go out to the Tabernacle, all three of you!” So the three of them went to the Tabernacle.Then the Lord descended in the pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tabernacle.“ Aaron and Miriam!” he called, and they stepped forward.And the Lord said to them,“ Now listen to what I say:“ If there were prophets among you, I, the Lord, would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams.But not with my servant Moses. Of all my house, he is the one I trust.I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles! He sees the Lord as he is. So why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?”The Lord was very angry with them, and he departed.

Yet Israel did not listen to the judges but prostituted themselves by worshiping other gods. How quickly they turned away from the path of their ancestors, who had walked in obedience to the Lord’s commands.

But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

Forget all this gloom. Get off your narrow path. Stop telling us about your‘ Holy One of Israel.’”

If I must boast, I would rather boast about the things that show how weak I am.
