Some people have gone astray without knowing it. He is able to deal gently with them. He can do that because he himself is weak.

He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness.

And he is able to deal gently with ignorant and wayward people because he himself is subject to the same weaknesses.

He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he is also clothed with weakness.

“‘ Now if you as a community unintentionally fail to keep any of these commands the Lord gave Moses—any of the Lord’s commands to you through him, from the day the Lord gave them and continuing through the generations to come—and if this is done unintentionally without the community being aware of it, then the whole community is to offer a young bull for a burnt offering as an aroma pleasing to the Lord, along with its prescribed grain offering and drink offering, and a male goat for a sin offering.The priest is to make atonement for the whole Israelite community, and they will be forgiven, for it was not intentional and they have presented to the Lord for their wrong a food offering and a sin offering.The whole Israelite community and the foreigners residing among them will be forgiven, because all the people were involved in the unintentional wrong.“‘ But if just one person sins unintentionally, that person must bring a year- old female goat for a sin offering.The priest is to make atonement before the Lord for the one who erred by sinning unintentionally, and when atonement has been made, that person will be forgiven.One and the same law applies to everyone who sins unintentionally, whether a native- born Israelite or a foreigner residing among you.

I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses.

Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.

They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said,‘ These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’

Aaron answered them,“ Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.”So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said,“ These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced,“ Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord.”

Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite.“ Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked.“ Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this.( Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam,“ Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out.Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward,he said,“ Listen to my words:“ When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house.With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”The anger of the Lord burned against them, and he left them.

Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped them. They quickly turned from the ways of their ancestors, who had been obedient to the Lord’s commands.

But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Leave this way, get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!”

If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.
