So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

故吾人當及時努力、俾得入此安寧；切勿稍存執拗之意、而蹈先人之覆轍也。

Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

So let us make every effort to enjoy that rest. Then no one will die by disobeying as they did.

Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.

Then Jesus said,“ Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him?So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.

“ Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail.

Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

And from the time John the Baptist began preaching until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violent people are attacking it.

Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.

Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.

“ And so, King Agrippa, I obeyed that vision from heaven.

You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil— the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.

So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Once, you Gentiles were rebels against God, but when the people of Israel rebelled against him, God was merciful to you instead.Now they are the rebels, and God’s mercy has come to you so that they, too, will share in God’s mercy.For God has imprisoned everyone in disobedience so he could have mercy on everyone.

But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”

Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.

Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.

“ You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.

“ Until John the Baptist, the law of Moses and the messages of the prophets were your guides. But now the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is eager to get in.
