God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.

是故吾人值茲「入吾安寧」之恩諾尚未失效之時、當恐懼修省、各自奮勉；幸毋因循自誤、以致坐失良機也。

So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

Blessed are those who fear to do wrong, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble.

So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.

If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.

For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said,“ In my anger I took an oath:‘ They will never enter my place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since he made the world.We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day:“ On the seventh day God rested from all his work.”But in the other passage God said,“ They will never enter my place of rest.”

So in my anger I took an oath:‘ They will never enter my place of rest.’”

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?

Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.

True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful?Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him,“ You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.”

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.

But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Yes, but remember— those branches were broken off because they didn’t believe in Christ, and you are there because you do believe. So don’t think highly of yourself, but fear what could happen.

“ Therefore, the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I promised that your branch of the tribe of Levi would always be my priests. But I will honor those who honor me, and I will despise those who think lightly of me.

Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven!
