Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.

Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.

Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward,how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.

For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written:“ That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.”

“ But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

“ Not everyone who says to Me,‘ Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.Many will say to Me in that day,‘ Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’And then I will declare to them,‘ I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection.

When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying,‘ Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you,‘ I do not know you, where you are from,’then you will begin to say,‘ We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’But He will say,‘ I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God.And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.”

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.

But if that servant says in his heart,‘ My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk,the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

But if that evil servant says in his heart,‘ My master is delaying his coming,’and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of,and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.“ Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,

A wise man fears and departs from evil, But a fool rages and is self-confident.
