Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left[ us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let[ them] slip.For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard[ him];

Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of[ their] conversation.

For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:But I keep under my body, and bring[ it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

After the number of the days in which ye searched the land,[ even] forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities,[ even] forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all[ ye] workers of iniquity.There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you[ yourselves] thrust out.And they shall come from the east, and[ from] the west, and from the north, and[ from] the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for[ him], and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;And shall begin to smite[ his] fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for[ him], and in an hour that he is not aware of,And shall cut him asunder, and appoint[ him] his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.And five of them were wise, and five[ were] foolish.They that[ were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

A wise[ man] feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
