神四十年之久，又厌烦谁呢？岂不是那些犯罪、尸首倒在旷野的人吗？

上帝於四十載中憾誰、非犯罪而暴骨於野者乎、

天主於四十年間怒誰、非犯罪而屍仆於曠野者乎、

天主所謂：「厭惡斯代、垂四十春」者、又誰耶？非多行不義、卒至暴屍曠野者乎？

And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?

Who was God angry with for 40 years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned? They died in the desert.

爾尸必僵於斯野、爾中見核而怨我者、自二十歲以上、

爾雖悉知之、我今欲令爾憶之、即主救民出埃及地、後滅其不信者、

當告之曰、耶和華云、人屍必若糞土、僵於田間、又如禾束、遺於刈者之後、無人拾之、○

惟爾之尸、必僵於野、爾之子女、緣爾狥欲、必負其罪、流離於野、歷四十年、迨爾尸骸消滅、

斯民既於埃及暨曠野、見我榮光、及所行之異蹟、而猶試我、至於十次、不聽我言、

昔在西乃野、摩西與祭司亞倫所核以色列人中、今無一人在其數者、蓋耶和華曾有言曰、其人必死於曠野、故耶孚尼子迦勒、嫩之子約書亞而外、靡有孑遺、

蓋耶和華攻之、使盡滅於營中、○民中武士、既已盡滅、

兄弟乎、我欲爾知、昔我列祖皆在雲下、徑行海中、皆受洗於雲海、以歸摩西、皆食一靈食、皆飲一靈飲、蓋所飲者、出自相隨之靈磐、夫磐即基督也、然其人多為上帝所不悅、故傾覆於野、此為我鑑、使勿嗜惡如彼焉、勿拜像、如彼有拜之者、如經云、民坐而飲食、起而嬉戲、勿行淫、如彼有行之者、一日殞二萬三千人、勿試主、如彼有試之者、而亡於蛇、勿怨尤、如彼有怨尤者、而為滅者所滅、夫彼所遇者、可為鑑戒、載之於經、以警我末世之人、故自以為立者、慎勿傾也、爾所遇之試、無非人之可忍者、上帝誠信、不忍爾遇試過爾所能、必於其中闢途、使能勝之、○
