因為那由天使宣講之道既這麼確定，以致一切犯法和不聽從的事都當受該受的報應，

要知道，那藉著天使所說的話既然是確定的，連一切過犯和悖逆都受到了應得的報應，

蓋由天使所言若果鞏固、凡干犯不順者、皆受義報、

浸假道藉天使以傳、言出惟行、使諸犯逆、無不遭應得之譴、況吾棄救道、如此之大者、豈能逭乎、

其藉天使所傳之道既確定、凡不順而逆者、皆遭應得之報、

夫以天神所傳之誡命尚且一成不變、有犯必懲；

For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment,

Even the message God spoke through angels had to be obeyed. Every time people broke the Law, they were punished. Every time they didn’t obey, they were punished.

For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,

For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.

For if the message spoken through angels was legally binding and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment,

For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every violation and act of disobedience received a just punishment,

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward,

For if the word spoken through angels proved stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;

For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

For if the message spoken through angels proved to be so firm that every violation or disobedience received its just penalty,

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,

You received the law under the direction of angels and yet have not kept it.”

Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise was made would come. The law was put into effect through angels by means of a mediator.

If anyone disregards Moses’ law, he dies without mercy, based on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

‘ Anyone who does not put the words of this law into practice is cursed.’ And all the people will say,‘ Amen!’

So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.

The person who acts arrogantly, refusing to listen either to the priest who stands there serving the Lord your God or to the judge, must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

For he considered the reproach because of the Messiah to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since his attention was on the reward.

Now I want to remind you, though you know all these things: The Lord first saved a people out of Egypt and later destroyed those who did not believe;

you must bring out to your gates that man or woman who has done this evil thing and stone them to death.

“ But the person who acts defiantly, whether native or foreign resident, blasphemes the Lord. That person is to be cut off from his people.He will certainly be cut off, because he has despised the Lord’s word and broken His command; his guilt remains on him.”While the Israelites were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the entire community.They placed him in custody because it had not been decided what should be done to him.Then the Lord told Moses,“ The man is to be put to death. The entire community is to stone him outside the camp.”So the entire community brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.

“ If a man or woman among you in one of your towns that the Lord your God will give you is discovered doing evil in the sight of the Lord your God and violating His covenant

He told them,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says,‘ Every man fasten his sword to his side; go back and forth through the camp from entrance to entrance, and each of you kill his brother, his friend, and his neighbor.’”The Levites did as Moses commanded, and about 3,000 men fell dead that day among the people.

Then the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and they bit them so that many Israelites died.

Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff, so that a great amount of water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not trust Me to show My holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land I have given them.”

But those who died from the plague numbered 14,700, in addition to those who died because of the Korah incident.

Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu each took his own firepan, put fire in it, placed incense on it, and presented unauthorized fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them to do.Then fire came from the Lord and burned them to death before the Lord.

While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the Lord’s anger burned against the people, and the Lord struck them with a very severe plague.

Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal-peor, for the Lord your God destroyed every one of you who followed Baal of Peor.But you who have remained faithful to the Lord your God are all alive today.

But God was not pleased with most of them, for they were struck down in the wilderness.Now these things became examples for us, so that we will not desire evil things as they did.Don’t become idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and got up to play.Let us not commit sexual immorality as some of them did, and in a single day 23,000 people fell dead.Let us not test Christ as some of them did and were destroyed by snakes.Nor should we complain as some of them did, and were killed by the destroyer.Now these things happened to them as examples, and they were written as a warning to us, on whom the ends of the ages have come.So, whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall.

Just as he finished speaking all these words, the ground beneath them split open.The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, all Korah’s people, and all their possessions.They went down alive into Sheol with all that belonged to them. The earth closed over them, and they vanished from the assembly.At their cries, all the people of Israel who were around them fled because they thought,“ The earth may swallow us too!”Fire also came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were presenting the incense.

Tell them: As surely as I live,” this is the Lord’s declaration,“ I will do to you exactly as I heard you say.Your corpses will fall in this wilderness— all of you who were registered in the census, the entire number of you 20 years old or more— because you have complained about Me.I swear that none of you will enter the land I promised to settle you in, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.I will bring your children whom you said would become plunder into the land you rejected, and they will enjoy it.But as for you, your corpses will fall in this wilderness.Your children will be shepherds in the wilderness for 40 years and bear the penalty for your acts of unfaithfulness until all your corpses lie scattered in the wilderness.You will bear the consequences of your sins 40 years based on the number of the 40 days that you scouted the land, a year for each day. You will know My displeasure.I, Yahweh, have spoken. I swear that I will do this to the entire evil community that has conspired against Me. They will come to an end in the wilderness, and there they will die.”So the men Moses sent to scout out the land, and who returned and incited the entire community to complain about him by spreading a negative report about the land—those men who spread the negative report about the land were struck down by the Lord.

Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways.

but those who died in the plague numbered 24,000.

Let my teaching fall like rain and my word settle like dew, like gentle rain on new grass and showers on tender plants.

“ Bring the one who has cursed to the outside of the camp and have all who heard him lay their hands on his head; then have the whole community stone him.And tell the Israelites: If anyone curses his God, he will bear the consequences of his sin.Whoever blasphemes the name of Yahweh is to be put to death; the whole community must stone him. If he blasphemes the Name, he is to be put to death, whether the foreign resident or the native.

God’s chariots are tens of thousands, thousands and thousands; the Lord is among them in the sanctuary as He was at Sinai.
