Don’t let all kinds of strange teachings lead you astray. It is good that God’s grace makes our hearts strong. Don’t try to grow strong by eating foods that the law requires. They have no value for the people who eat them.

Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.

So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,

Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,“ Say to the Israelites:‘ Of all the animals that live on land, these are the ones you may eat:You may eat any animal that has a divided hoof and that chews the cud.“‘ There are some that only chew the cud or only have a divided hoof, but you must not eat them. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean till evening.When one of them dies and falls on something, that article, whatever its use, will be unclean, whether it is made of wood, cloth, hide or sackcloth. Put it in water; it will be unclean till evening, and then it will be clean.If one of them falls into a clay pot, everything in it will be unclean, and you must break the pot.Any food you are allowed to eat that has come into contact with water from any such pot is unclean, and any liquid that is drunk from such a pot is unclean.Anything that one of their carcasses falls on becomes unclean; an oven or cooking pot must be broken up. They are unclean, and you are to regard them as unclean.A spring, however, or a cistern for collecting water remains clean, but anyone who touches one of these carcasses is unclean.If a carcass falls on any seeds that are to be planted, they remain clean.But if water has been put on the seed and a carcass falls on it, it is unclean for you.“‘ If an animal that you are allowed to eat dies, anyone who touches its carcass will be unclean till evening.Anyone who eats some of its carcass must wash their clothes, and they will be unclean till evening. Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them.I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground.I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.“‘ These are the regulations concerning animals, birds, every living thing that moves about in the water and every creature that moves along the ground.You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between living creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten.’”

If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicionsand constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us,

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind.They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

“ Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied.“ I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”The voice spoke to him a second time,“ Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us— whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter— asserting that the day of the Lord has already come.

This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings— external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine- sounding arguments.

“ Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Jesus answered:“ Watch out that no one deceives you.

Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.

Why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do!And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about.For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,

You say,“ Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

Do not eat any detestable thing.These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.You may eat any animal that has a divided hoof and that chews the cud.However, of those that chew the cud or that have a divided hoof you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the hyrax. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you.The pig is also unclean; although it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud.
