Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession: Jesus;

Let love of the brothers and sisters continue.Do not neglect hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are badly treated, since you yourselves also are in the body.

Take care, brothers and sisters, that there will not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.But encourage one another every day, as long as it is still called“ today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble,and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is impaired may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.Pursue peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;that there be no sexually immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.

Therefore let’s make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience.

And we desire that each one of you demonstrate the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and endurance inherit the promises.

And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain—

Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the gate, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood.So then, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come.Through Him then, let’s continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips praising His name.And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand!

Therefore, though I have enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is proper,yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you— since I am such a person as Paul, an old man, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus—

Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us,looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Now I, Paul, myself urge you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ— I who am meek when face to face with you, but bold toward you when absent!

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, through His flesh,and since we have a great priest over the house of God,let’s approach God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;and let’s consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds,not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.Anyone who has ignored the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much more severe punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?For we know Him who said,“ Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again,“ The Lord will judge His people.”It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.But remember the former days, when, after being enlightened, you endured a great conflict of sufferings,partly by being made a public spectacle through insults and distress, and partly by becoming companions with those who were so treated.For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better and lasting possession.Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay.But My righteous one will live by faith; And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.But we are not among those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith for the safekeeping of the soul.

Therefore, we must fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it.

See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns us from heaven.And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying,“ Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.”This expression,“ Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.
