Brothers and sisters, I urge you to bear with my word of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you quite briefly.

Brothers and sisters, I beg you to accept my word. It tells you to be faithful. Accept my word because I have written to you only a short letter.

Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, bear with my message of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you briefly.

I have written you this brief letter through Silvanus( I know him to be a faithful brother) to encourage you and to testify that this is the true grace of God. Take your stand in it!

Therefore, holy brothers and companions in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession;

Let brotherly love continue.Don’t neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it.Remember the prisoners, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourselves were suffering bodily.

Watch out, brothers, so that there won’t be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that departs from the living God.But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf,“ Be reconciled to God.”

Therefore strengthen your tired hands and weakened knees,and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed instead.Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness— without it no one will see the Lord.Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and by it, defiling many.And make sure that there isn’t any immoral or irreverent person like Esau, who sold his birthright in exchange for one meal.

Let us then make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience.

Now we want each of you to demonstrate the same diligence for the final realization of your hope,so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

Working together with Him, we also appeal to you,“ Don’t receive God’s grace in vain.”

Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the gate, so that He might sanctify the people by His own blood.Let us then go to Him outside the camp, bearing His disgrace.For we do not have an enduring city here; instead, we seek the one to come.Therefore, through Him let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips that confess His name.Don’t neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

For this reason, although I have great boldness in Christ to command you to do what is right,I appeal to you, instead, on the basis of love. I, Paul, as an elderly man and now also as a prisoner of Christ Jesus,

Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.

Now I, Paul, make a personal appeal to you by the gentleness and graciousness of Christ— I who am humble among you in person but bold toward you when absent.

Therefore, brothers, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus,by a new and living way He has opened for us through the curtain( that is, His flesh),and since we have a great high priest over the house of God,let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works,not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.For if we deliberately sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries.If anyone disregards Moses’ law, he dies without mercy, based on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, regarded as profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and insulted the Spirit of grace?For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge His people.It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!Remember the earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings.Sometimes you were publicly exposed to taunts and afflictions, and at other times you were companions of those who were treated that way.For you sympathized with the prisoners and accepted with joy the confiscation of your possessions, knowing that you yourselves have a better and enduring possession.So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised.For yet in a very little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.But My righteous one will live by faith; and if he draws back, I have no pleasure in him.But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and obtain life.

Therefore, while the promise to enter His rest remains, let us fear that none of you should miss it.

Make sure that you do not reject the One who speaks. For if they did not escape when they rejected Him who warned them on earth, even less will we if we turn away from Him who warns us from heaven.His voice shook the earth at that time, but now He has promised, Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also heaven.This expression,“ Yet once more,” indicates the removal of what can be shaken— that is, created things— so that what is not shaken might remain.Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us hold on to grace. By it, we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,

We must, therefore, pay even more attention to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.
