For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.

For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.

Here we do not have a city that lasts. But we are looking for the city that is going to come.

For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.

For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

For we do not have an enduring city here; instead, we seek the one to come.

But our citizenship is in heaven– and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth,for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assembly

So in fact children were fathered by one man– and this one as good as dead– like the number of stars in the sky and like the innumerable grains of sand on the seashore.These all died in faith without receiving the things promised, but they saw them in the distance and welcomed them and acknowledged that they were strangers and foreigners on the earth.For those who speak in such a way make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.In fact, if they had been thinking of the land that they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.But as it is, they aspire to a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

But, according to his promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness truly resides.Therefore, dear friends, since you are waiting for these things, strive to be found at peace, without spot or blemish, when you come into his presence.

And I say this, brothers and sisters: The time is short. So then those who have wives should be as those who have none,

So then you are no longer foreigners and noncitizens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,

By faith he lived as a foreigner in the promised land as though it were a foreign country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who were fellow heirs of the same promise.For he was looking forward to the city with firm foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

But you are the ones who will be forced to leave! For this land is not secure! Sin will thoroughly destroy it!

For our momentary, light suffering is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparisonbecause we are not looking at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.For we know that if our earthly house, the tent we live in, is dismantled, we have a building from God, a house not built by human hands, that is eternal in the heavens.For in this earthly house we groan, because we desire to put on our heavenly dwelling,if indeed, after we have put on our heavenly house, we will not be found naked.For we groan while we are in this tent, since we are weighed down, because we do not want to be unclothed, but clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.Now the one who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a down payment.Therefore we are always full of courage, and we know that as long as we are alive here on earth we are absent from the Lord–for we live by faith, not by sight.Thus we are full of courage and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God.

For the culmination of all things is near. So be self- controlled and sober- minded for the sake of prayer.
