So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by means of his own blood.

故耶穌亦自殉於邑門之外、俾以其血聖化萬民。

With his own blood— not the blood of goats and calves— he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity.Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.

and dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul.

They divided his clothes and threw dice to decide who would get each piece.

So the whole community took the man outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Carrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull( in Hebrew, Golgotha).There they nailed him to the cross. Two others were crucified with him, one on either side, with Jesus between them.

Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

After Moses gave all these instructions to the Israelites, they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him to death. The Israelites did just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

That is why even the first covenant was put into effect with the blood of an animal.For after Moses had read each of God’s commandments to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, along with water, and sprinkled both the book of God’s law and all the people, using hyssop branches and scarlet wool.

One of the soldiers, however, pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out.

Then Joshua and all the Israelites took Achan, the silver, the robe, the bar of gold, his sons, daughters, cattle, donkeys, sheep, goats, tent, and everything he had, and they brought them to the valley of Achor.

Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us.

And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.
