He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.

O Lord, correct me, but with justice; Not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.

You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you.

It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes.

Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord— that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
