And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:“ My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;

and ye have forgotten the exhortation which reasoneth with you as with sons, My son, regard not lightly the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when thou art reproved of him;

And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: My son, do not take the Lord’s discipline lightly or faint when you are reproved by Him,

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

You have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children,“ My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him;

My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you.For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.

“ But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.For though he wounds, he also bandages. He strikes, but his hands also heal.

I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.

Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

Joyful are those you discipline, Lord, those you teach with your instructions.

Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

The Lord has punished me severely, but he did not let me die.

My life constantly hangs in the balance, but I will not stop obeying your instructions.

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.

“ But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.Never forget the day when you stood before the Lord your God at Mount Sinai, where he told me,‘ Summon the people before me, and I will personally instruct them. I have heard Israel saying,‘ You disciplined me severely, like a calf that needs training for the yoke. Turn me again to you and restore me, for you alone are the Lord my God.

I know, O Lord, that your regulations are fair; you disciplined me because I needed it.

Then the Lord’s anger was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him dead because of this. So Uzzah died right there beside the Ark of God.David was angry because the Lord’s anger had burst out against Uzzah. He named that place Perez uzzah( which means“ to burst out against Uzzah”), as it is still called today.David was now afraid of the Lord, and he asked,“ How can I ever bring the Ark of the Lord back into my care?”So David decided not to move the Ark of the Lord into the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed edom of Gath.

He said to them,“ You are the leaders of the Levite families. You must purify yourselves and all your fellow Levites, so you can bring the Ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.Because you Levites did not carry the Ark the first time, the anger of the Lord our God burst out against us. We failed to ask God how to move it properly.”

O Lord, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage.Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak. Heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.

They have stolen some of the things that I commanded must be set apart for me. And they have not only stolen them but have lied about it and hidden the things among their own belongings.

My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.

“ Why don’t people say to God,‘ I have sinned, but I will sin no more’?

As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?

Each time he said,“ My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee,

Get wisdom; develop good judgment. Don’t forget my words or turn away from them.

I am shriveled like a wineskin in the smoke, but I have not forgotten to obey your decrees.

Don’t you understand even yet? Don’t you remember the 5,000 I fed with five loaves, and the baskets of leftovers you picked up?Or the 4,000 I fed with seven loaves, and the large baskets of leftovers you picked up?
