而甘嘗垢辱、毅然肩負苦架。今則安坐天主寶位之右矣。爾等當細心體驗、耶穌當時如何忍受群小之拂逆、庶幾不致灰心而自餒。

Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

He made it through these attacks by sinners. So think about him. Then you won’t get tired. You won’t lose hope.

Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (niv)

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. (niv)

So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. (niv)

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. (niv)

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (niv)

At this they exclaimed,“ Now we know that you are demon- possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. (niv)

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say,‘ Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.” (niv)

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well- instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. (niv)

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered,“ This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” (niv)

At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. (niv)

But when the Pharisees heard this, they said,“ It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.” (niv)

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”“ I tell you,” he replied,“ if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” (niv)

The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. (niv)

“ Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!” (niv)

But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts,“ Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.“ Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.“ Yes,” replied Jesus,“ have you never read,“‘ From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?” (niv)

The Pharisees challenged him,“ Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.” (niv)

If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength! (niv)

The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves,“ Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (niv)

When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby slapped him in the face.“ Is this the way you answer the high priest?” he demanded. (niv)

Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. (niv)

Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother:“ This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, (niv)

The Jews answered him,“ Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?”“ I am not possessed by a demon,” said Jesus,“ but I honor my Father and you dishonor me. (niv)

When Jesus went outside, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions,waiting to catch him in something he might say. (niv)

But some of them said,“ By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.”Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven. (niv)

All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this.They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. (niv)

Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked,“ What? Are we blind too?” (niv)

Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, (niv)

Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him,but Jesus said to them,“ I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”“ We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied,“ but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”Jesus answered them,“ Is it not written in your Law,‘ I have said you are“ gods”’?If he called them‘ gods,’ to whom the word of God came— and Scripture cannot be set aside—what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said,‘ I am God’s Son’?Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father.But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp. (niv)

Many of them said,“ He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?” (niv)
